My 10 HD-DVD cases from mediaexchange1 on Ebay just showed up. They are very nice cases and all my covers fit perfectly. I used a paper sleeve for the 2nd disc of Beowulf and had to a trim a little off to make it fit proper but it worked beautifully...

I was able to pickup Bruce Almighty and Mr. Bean Holiday for 2 for $20. While there we tried the buy 1 get 1 free coupon and it didn't work. Has anyone tried it? It's in the little Hollywood video release book at most entrances.

Consensus seems to indicate it doesn't work automatically. In many cases, the person needs to manually override it to apply the BOGO. I had an initial "no" but talked with a manager and she said it was ok to override.

Made the rounds to the three HV's south of Houston and used the BOGO coupon at each one. They had to do a manual override but there was no question that the coupon applied. I also noticed that two locations had restocked since my last visit and in talking with the manager at my local one, she stated that they were still getting stock that was already ordered but that she was putting it straight to previewed sale.

I purchased 10 HD DVD cases (with logo) via Amazon and the cases work, but they don't close as tight as the original studio cases. Are these closing with a firm lock?

American Gangster

Has anyone experienced playback issues with American Gangster on an A30? Froze a few a few times even after the hot water treatment... also shot out an error code if you left it paused too long.

Thanks in advance

Ran by one last night and also got them to do the override. Picked up Bruce Almighty and MI:2. I bought 25 cases on Ebay and they are alright. The disc tray locks are kind of funky with the clip on the left side of the disc and the cases are kind of square instead of rounded, but they work and have the HD DVD logo. I'm just using a nice case logic disc sleeve and putting the second discs under the clips on the left side. Works and shouldn't scratch the disc.

I don't even want to know what your end of the deal involved.

Yeesh. My g/f and I bought 60 movies from a store that was closing that day and they didn't even want to entertain giving us a bit of a break.

Me: Know what is even better than 20 titles for $100...22 titles for $100
Manager: *laughs* Yea leave me with all the crap titles
Me: No I just think it is better *laughs*
Manager: *laughs* FINE take 22
Me: Score!

Well you guys are gonna be even more jealous guys...

I went back today to thank the manager and he said 'You want anymore...they are yours at $5 a piece' I said '$2.50 a piece sounds a whole lot better'

He laughed and said sure thing if you buy all 34 titles that are left!

And of course I did helpfully take them off his hands...

List of all 56 titles to come soon,
Mike

No, seriously...sexual favors were involved, right? Or you slipped him roofies? Some of us had to settle for 2/$20 because the staff members were jerks and this manager almost gives you money to haul them out of the store?!? What planet is this store located on?

I think you have a secret admirer. Sounds almost unbelievable that an HV manager could be nice.
