Well, I've managed to spend $500 at dd this sale; more than usual. I did get a storage cabinet which was $200 though. I bought 2 expensive sets too; Gilmore Girls (I sold my individual season sets because I wanted the full set) which was 144 and Northern Exposure which was 107. I spent about $100 at dvdplanet. I'll probably place one more order on Tuesday. It's a good thing that I pay the bills so my dh doesn't know how much I spend on dvds!

Has anyone been able to find the new "I Am Cuba" (Soy Cuba) Special Edition on DD anywhere? I've searched under English and Spanish title, director, and star-- no dice. Anybody?

This is the first time I didn't buy a thing during this sale. I wanted to give them my money if they lowered the prices for Veronica Mars, but I'm getting them from Amazon instead now. $123 for 3 seasons?! Are they nuts?

Pretty pleased on this round of DD's sale. A backordered item shipped a few weeks early and media mail was delivered in three days.

Neither DD nor DVD Planet carry New Yorker titles.

I think "I Am Cuba" is a New Yorker title, and DD doesn't carry any New Yorker DVDs.

It was only very recently that Amazon's prices for S1 and S2 of Veronica Mars dropped to its current $14.99 price. The two seasons have also been on sale at one or two B&Ms. S3 is still cheapest at DD, though.

Same here but being that I live in Hawaii, their shipping has been really inconsistent as there are times where I get my order within the 5-10 day period and others where I wait over a month

What if I placed an order for expedited shipping for 5 DVDs, and all of them were backordered? I'd be out the shipping cost.

And brizz, you clearly didn't read...I felt ripped off before the situation was resolved. I'm pleasantly surprised/happy with the outcome - they even thought to refund shipping costs for the second order, because they knew the same thing wuold happen again. I didn't ask for that second refund, so I walked away impressed with them.
No, you weren't. As has been posted, you received precisely the service you paid for. It is clearly stated that backordered items are NOT sent via expedited shipping. Just because you can't read doesn't mean DD did anything wrong.

I suspect you'll get 'em Monday. My orders that shipped Friday, I got today. Of course with Media Mail, who knows. Another separate order that shipped the same day, I got on Tuesday...

Go to the Dole plantation and get some delicious pineapple ice cream to help cheer you up, I was there for four years and I feel your pain, I remember the crazy shipping practices of the post office out there, but dd was really good about replacing an entire box that never made it to me one year, and then all of a sudden, one day in Feb, the original order showed up. I miss alot about Hawaii, but that's definittly not one of em.

This happened to me last year and they just sent out a new copy no charge. Didn't have to send the damaged one back. Don't know that is their standard policy, but explain your situation and they might take care of it?

Same here. I did get "The Batman vs Dracula" on DD, though, since it was cheaper there.

And neither order was listed as backordered at the time of purchase. Therefore, it's not like I would've known I would not be receiving those items via priority shipping at the time of order.

Either way, it's a done deal. DDD acknowledged it and corrected it for me, and I'm pleased with them.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread so I apologize if this question has been asked before or if it's just general knowledge...but when DD lists something as fullscreen is it indeed fullscreen? For example, if I do a search for the Alien Quadrilogy the only result is listed as fullscreen. The same thing happens with the Poltergeist new release. Are these in fact fullscreen or widescreen?

NO , many of the "fullscreen" items listed are indeed widescreen. There is not a fullscreen Alien Quad. available anywhere.

They don't wait, they ship as available, but you won't get the discount on pre-orders, so if it is for Tuesday stuff you should wait to order (but since shipping is free on any amount, you can always order the other stuff now).

Since they don't have an option to hold until the order is complete (like Amazon does) if you pay for upgraded shipping you'll only get it on the first shipment. I never pay for that since if I'm in a rush I don't really buy at DD anyway, so that doesn't effect me.
