That's a simile, not a metaphor...

Still, I hear you. I've checked pretty much every Wallymart in my area (Fort Wayne, IN), and the best it got was a single disk FS edition. I could swear I saw the two-disk edition on the shelf in my local supercenter maybe two weeks ago. Seemed like they had plenty of it, too...

Is there a thread somewhere listing what is in each of the Friday @ 8am secret sale?

Do we need a secret handshake to get it?

I work at Wal-Mart and I was looking through our inventory of 300 a few days ago. It showed that we only had a few copies of the 2 disc edition in stock, but now our inventory is showing that we have about 130 copies of the 2-disc edition in stock. By what I've seen in our inventory in the past few days, it looks like Wal-Mart is getting ready to start a more widespread sale on these DVD's so that most Wal-Mart will have them displayed by the end of the month. Also, Blood Diamond, Superman Returns, V For Vendetta and the Departed 2 special editions were all showing up as being $9.00 in our inventory. None of these DVD's were out on the floor yet though.

Noticing that its been WB titles so far, I looked for a 2-disk Superman Returns this morning and only saw 1-diskers.

Looks like the same thing is happening here. I had scanned our inventory and it showed only one copy of 300 2-Disc SE left. Last night I tried it again and it showed nearly 50 copies. I checked the surrounding area and I could see elevated levels at a number of other locations. So it seems that if you missed out on this you may get another crack at it soon.

These were in a special Holiday themed end cap at WM in Madison, AL. Multiple copies of 300, Blood Diamond, Departed, Superman Returns, Pan's Labyrinth (with movie cash for Golden Compass), 2-disks of LOTR Trilogy (with movie cash). It was in the very back of the DVD department, but obviously not a mistake. Try looking for a green/red (natch) holiday themed endcap with the $9 price clearly listed.

Saw 1 copy of 300 SE for $9 this am, but nothing else.
They did take down the $9.96 display (Walk The Line 2-Disc, etc.), so maybe they are making room for the new $9 display. I'm still looking for Blood Diamond 2-Disc.

Thanks OP.

Just an FYI - if you live near a Giant Eagle grocery store they have the "300" 2 disc DVD (along with a few others) for $7.95 until Thanksgiving. See the other thread about it if you're interested.

I think that's just the 1-disc version.

Well, they're showing the 2-disc version in the adscan but I wouldn't be surprised if the ad is showing the wrong picture (since The Departed and others in the same ad are the single disc versions). I'm going to hold onto the ones I picked up for $8 myself. As they say, a bird in the hand are worth two in the bush...

Found a lone 2-disk Superman Returns today, scanned it and sure enough it came up $9.00.

I would have bought it if the movie didn't suck so much.

Saw this display and just like others have mentioned; its holiday themed cardboard. The newer LOTR Trilogy Editions, The Notebook, 300, The Departed, Superman Returns, Wedding Crashers, Pans Labrynth were all there for $9.

Its weird how some are great deals and some are not.

Did the 300s have slipcovers?

I hope the LOTR sets are the last release that included both the theatrical and extended versions. I wanted to get them because of all the new exclusive bonus features but couldn't justify spending that much money on them when I already own the extended versions. At $9.00 each I don't see how I can pass them up a second time. Our display hasn't been brought out yet but I'm thinking my next chance I'll snoop around a bit and see if we have one out back or not.
