FYE Debit Cards

Has anyone chosen the $10 debit card on FYE rebates instead of the $7 check? Did they work smoothly? Do they arrive sooner than the cash? Do they still allow you to use coupon codes with them? (I assume the Paypal discount does not, but how about the 10% off coupon?

Not sure about using them with other coupons, but I don't see why not. The cards (actually, just codes) work the same as cash. A couple days after I put in the request to change to the $10 virtual cards, they e-mailed me a code and verification number to use online or print out and use in-store. I used it online and it worked perfectly.

I've gotten them twice now and they do arrive faster than USPS mail. They are considered a Gift Card and work in the retail stores also. I don't know if it will work with the Paypal10 code. The one time I tried I had included a pre-order which you can't do with the paypal code.

I used mine in-store. Requested the switch from the $7 check to the $10 gift card, and about 24 hours later I had an email with a code.

About a month later I presented that email to the FYE mall manager, and it was a painless process. I didn't use any coupons, but there was no text that indicated you couldn't.

As long as you plan to shop with FYE in the future, it seems like a no-brainer.

I just tried this for the first time. I hope I get my GC code as quickly as you guys say. But of my 4 active rebates, I could only upgrade one of them to a gift card. I think they only do that for $7 rebates, and not for $10 rebates...

I actually got my check faster. I have not received any gift card from them nor have I receieved any code to do an online purchase. Anyone else have this problem? OR do I just need to be more patient?

Wow, it took nearly a full month for me to receive the e-mail with my code.

My rebate had already been validated at the time I made the switch from check to GC. That probably makes a huge difference.
I was checking the status of my rebate on fyerebates.com after receiving the tracking number email, and noticed the option. At the time, I posted in the store forum and no one had any idea what I was talking about- it was a brand new option (300 was the movie I bought.) It's also possible that things have slowed down now that the word is out.

8/7- purchased 300
8/17- submitted $7 rebate request by mail
8/24- received tracking number email from FYE and posted at dvdtalk
9/3- switched rebate request
9/4- received email
10/16-spent in-store!

Go to http://www.fyerebates.com and you can track using your name and Zip.

BTW, I went ahead and tried this yesterday and WOW what a greal deal. Submitted the Debit Card change at 7 PM, got my $10 Debit card email at 10:30 PM, and spent it at 10:45. I was able to stack it with a 10% off coupon, so I got Ratatoiulle Blu-Ray for $14.95 shipped (plus another $7-$10 rebate coming back at me).

The weird thing is that I had 2 open $7 rebates, and they only offered me the $10 upgrade on one of them... Wonder if I called them if they would upgrade it manually over the phone...

Oddly enough the first time it showed up for me was with 300 and I chose the 10 bucks instead of the 7 and received the 7 buck check instead. I have no idea why.

Just tried to combine the debit card with the PayPal coupon and got this:

The payment methods you have selected cannot be combined.

I just discovered that you can Pre-Submit your rebate, which guarantees the ability to select the $10 Card.

Yup it worked fine.

I was actually surprised how fast I got the Debit Card code in my email box. Mostly because I changed my mind last minute.

after I e-mailed them about not receiving the oldest gift card, I got all three of my rebates in my inbox the next day. Already spent it. Maybe they are getting faster with the holiday spending coming up.

Holy crap! I just submitted the $7 online rebate for The Twilight Zone: The Movie HD DVD. It gave me a choice of $7 check or $20 Virtual Certificate, which means I got the disc for free!

Can you pre-submit on pre-orders?

How do you get that rebate? That would be awesome to get that for free. I almost picked it as my Freebie at Best Buy today with the HD-A2 Player.

Don't get too excited. It has been reported that this is a glitch and FYE will adjust the VC back down to the proper $10(I'm just going by this post- http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...24&postcount=5 ).

I don't think that it will work, but go to www.fyerebates.com and click on the "Pre-Submit Your Rebate" link. After you select the title, date of purchase and store location, you'll be given an option for a virtual card. Just select whichever rebate that you want and print out the rebate form.

Well, I just hit the first snag in these Virtual Debit cards. For some reason, the numbers they are sending me are 16 digits starting with "6"... apparently, those starting in 6 have to be used in stores. I'm trying to get this fixed with FYE customer service.

Glad I saw this, I was about to buy the Spiderman DVD trilogy for $27 and select the $30 debit card instead of the $7 Rebate.

Does it say $20 on the tracking site? Did you actually get the $20? All I need is confirmation that this works and I'll be making lots of orders at FYE. Thanks.
