All store exclusives and freebies - 9/16/07 to 9/22/07

These weekly threads are for the posting and discussion of that particular week's store exclusives and freebies.

These lists will likely be incomplete until Thursday or so, since DVDs are released on Tuesday and one of us needs to visit all the stores to confirm things.

Links to the master list and to the previous and next week's thread are below.

Volunteers needed: I regularly go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and Walmart; but don't visit the other stores every week. If you work at or regularly go to the FYE/TWEC chains, Costco, Borders, K-mart/Sears, Barnes and Noble, Blockbuster, Hot Topic, or any other store that has DVD exclusives; I'd appreciate any updates you could give us.

All Stores - Thread for all movie cash and free ticket deals

FYE/Sam Goody/other TWEC - posters if you pre-order Death Proof and/or Planet Terror
free mug with pre-order of Sopranos (season 6b)
dual sleeve when you pre-order Death Proof and Planet Terror
new Family Guy Volume 5 bundled with a Mad Libs

bendable Stewie doll with Family Guy Volume 5

Costco - bonus HBO preview DVD with several different HBO sets (most seasons of Sopranos, Six Feet Under, others), preview DVD in slimcase contains season premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, and series premiere of Right of the Conchords

Barnes and Noble - I have not been in the store to verify all new exclusives; has anyone else been there?

Blockbuster - mini poster of Death Proof for $4/$2

K-Mart/Sears - I searched and found nothing new

Hot Topic - I have not been in the store to verify all new exclusives; has anyone else been there?

Meijers - Family Guy Volume 5 packaged with a stewie whoopie cushion

This is week #8 of the new format, week 91 overall.

Oh, I was just going by the Target ad thread, maybe I read it wrong. But I'm pretty sure it mentioned something exclusive.

FYE has two things for Grindhouse:

A) A poster with digital signature from QT when you buy Death Proof (same for when Planet Terror comes out).

B) A case to hold both Planet Terror and Death Proof when you pre-order them together.

Yep, I had these in last week's list, since it was for pre-orders, but I should add them here as well, thanks!

what is a digital signature? and is that poster when you actually pick up DP and not merely on pre-order?

digital signature is basically just a printed on signature. if i'm not mistaken, it's like the fake signatures you might get if you sent an e-mail to a celebrity. they send you back an 8x10 with a stamped-on signature. as for the poster, the two stores i went to said they received them in, but that they'd only give them out when you pick up the item. i tried to get them to do otherwise, asking them, "but what if you run out before i have the chance to pick the dvd up? i don't want to lose out since i pre-ordered" but they said no and assured me they would save copies for those who pre-ordered.

At least consistent.. I think some people had problems getting the 300 bonus disc that didn't pre-order, even if they had some available.. So if they stick by it, I assume everyone that pre-ordered will get their posters..

Did they give you the slipcover though? Do they mark your receipt to indicate you already picked it up?

The Target ad just mentioned that there is an "Exclusive Offer", whatever that could be...

Their Weekly Ad site includes a cover pic with the "exclusive" sticker, but it's difficult to read. "Limited Edition _____"?

Wal-Mart's web site lists Death Proof with an exclusive "Bonus Item".

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=7763046

It might be just another movie though, because they list Planet Terror as an exclusive packaged with Wolf Creek.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=7789282

Just strange that they know what's coming with Planet Terror already but not Death Proof.

I had the same problem.
I asked two different employees (including the manager) and all they told me - after a long pause to try and understand what I was talking about - was that it would probably get to the store on Tuesday.

I hate how clueless our management can be, I'm really sorry for those who aren't able to get in on the slipcase. They were wicked limited, and arrived at stores well over a week ago.

Also of note, when stocking new releases this evening I noticed we had an EXCLUSIVE package for Family Guy that comes with Mad Libs.

Blockbuster is doing a mini poster of Death Proof. It's 4 bucks regular, but if you buy or rent Death Proof it's 2 dollars.

back from target. the 29.99 family guy exclusive is a thin double-wide.

not a fan of this since it won't fit on my shelf. not sure i'm keeping yet so not opening it till after best buy opens.

enjoy the pics. volume 4 is pictured for comparison.
