Planet of the Apes Ultimate Collection (big Monkey head) $98.99 at Amazon 8-14 only!

http://amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=cs_...249983-8101446

Not as great as the old Deep Discount price error, but still a great deal for a 14-disc set. I bought this when it first came out, and was very impressed. The discs are all packaged in a small holding case that makes it impossible for one to pop off its moorings and get scratched up. The holding case is inserted in the back of the bust under the shirt, rather than having the bust open up at the head (thus leaving nasty visible seams).

The only real complaint I've heard about this set is that it tends to creep out pets and spouses (seriously, more than one person has mentioned that their dog wouldn't stop barking at it).

Looks like MovieExchange posted this just before I did. I seem to remember hearing recently that we can no longer delete our own threads, so if a mod will remove this one, that'd be great!

Man...I really want this but I can remember when DD had their big deal on it...Wasn't it only $50? Don't know if I should part with $100 for it though there can't be a ton of these around any more.

Went back and looked and it was $80 a DD. Wonder if I should bite the bullet?

Well, the really big deal at DD was like 3$ or something ridiculous like that, but that didn't last long.

Bah...I ordered it. Looked around at Ebay, Half.com & Amazon Marketplace and none were selling under $100 and there were that many for sale. I missed the DD sale by about 5 hours last time and haven't seen this for sale since (and that was over a year ago).

What sold me is everyone talking about how creepy the head looks on your shelf. I love creeping out the neighbors (and the wife).

Darn. I really want this, but after passing on the DD deal a while back (and kicking myself over and over) I individually purchased everything in this set. Granted, I didn't open any of them, but unloading that stuff is a pain...

Good deal for you guys who got this. With this limited to 10,000 total units I believe Amazon was the last major retailor to have this in stock, so it might be hard to find going forward. I imagine second-hand prices will start to go up as the last remaining few at various stores disappear.

It doesn't seem to be hard to find:

I've had mine since it came out, just got through all the movies in order, now on the TV show, I enjoy it all a lot, especially the Ape head to scare people.

Maybe not too hard to find but who knows how many those retailers have in stock. Those prices also range from $145 to $180. They will likely have their copies for awhile.

This is the only cool dvd packaging head. We get no alien quadrilogy head, or the sphere.

I was so close to buying it, but I really can't justify the purchase right now. Of course, now that it's over, I wish I had ;p
