Pre-Pythons "Do Not Adjust Your Set" & "At Last the 1948 Show" $7.98 at HPB

Went to two Half Price Books stores today to use a couple of 40% off coupons. They each had at least 20 copies of the OOP two-disc "At Last the 1948 Show":

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061233/

And "Do Not Adjust Your Set":

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061247/

Each set is $7.98. I bought a copy of the latter for $4.79+tax after the coupon. Going back on Sunday to use a 50% off coupon to get the former.

Store locator:

http://www.halfpricebooks.com/find_a_store.html

Don't forget to sign up for the coupons. Two or three times a year they run a 40/30/20/50% off Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday promotion. I got myself on the list three times.

Excellent, thanks. I've been debating what to buy with today's 40% off coupon. I never was able to find these shows at Big Lots, and I hope they show up at the HPB stores here.

No HPBs near me, but luckily a kind soul helped me out for them back when Big Lots had them.

Sounds like a cool store, I hope they expand to Virginia.

No sign of either series at the two stores I hit on my way home yesterday, but I did find the OOP Image release of Intolerance for under $9 with the coupon. Hopefully, I can find one of the TV-on-DVD sets I need for 50% off at one of the other stores on Sunday.

Thanks for the reminder, Doc. I'd forgotten about the coupon and "At Last the 1948 Show" was what I'd planned to pick up.

Doc, were you able to use more than one coupon in one purchase? I had a couple of coupons too, but I used one in the morning and then went back in the afternoon and used the other.

Didn't try to double up. The St. Louis Park store is close enough to me that it's no big thing to make separate trips.

Also, FYI, copies of "Do Not Adjust Your Set" & "At Last the 1948 Show" both also started turning up at Ross Dress For Less about 2-3 months ago.

Saw both of those (Do Not Adjust Your Set & At Last the 1948 Show) at HPB today.

Using my coupons to pick up a bunch of Criterions they just got in:

Tokyo Drifter & Gate Of Flesh for 7.49 each (Sunday) and Story Of A Prostitute for 10.49 today

My HPB has been pricing most of the rare / oop stuff at much higher prices than they used to. As an example, they have a copy of The Ipcress File (for months) at 50.00 and I've seen the Mary Martin Peter Pan Goodtimes disc priced at 150.00 recently.

Found both at the store on Roosevelt in Seattle. There was at least one more copy of each.

I also found La Terre (Milestone Collection) for the same price.

No sign of them at the third location, either. There is only one remaining "local" store that is over 20 miles away in the next county, and I probably won't be up that way before the coupons expire. As I said before, the pre-Python titles never showed up at local Big Lots stores, either, so that particular "buyout" must have never made it to this part of the country.

The stores around here never get any Criterions not called Chasing Amy or The Life Aquatic. Someone had parted out their Indiana Jones collection at the store I hit yesterday, however, and the bonus material disc made it to the clearance rack for $5.00, so I used the 30% off to snag it for $3.50. Raiders is the only one of the films that interests me, and I already picked that up in a trade here. This find makes it a nice 2-disc special edition.

HamiltonBook.com has both of these titles for $7.95 each plus shipping if you don't have a HPB in your area.

Hi Bob...nice to see you visiting from HTF. Hamilton's had these for quite a spell, but shipping adds another $4.30.

I could never find these two when everyone else was picking them up at Big Lots earlier this year.

Thanks to the OP. My local HPB had both and I even found the Man With the Screaming Brain for $5 as well. Trip was well worth it.

Hamilton's sister site has them and shipping is $3.50, no matter how large your order. But you have to order them via SNAIL MAIL, which might be a drawback for some. Also at the same site is "Monty Python Live!", a two-disc set of the boys' live performances.

Went back today to use the 50% off coupon and picked up "At Last". Also found the (used) Criterion "Pickup On South Street", and had my wife use another coupon to get the cost down to $7.49. And if you like oddball PD television, they had a few new copies of Timeless Media's "Micky Rooney Show" (aka "Hey Mulligan"). 10 episodes on two discs for $5.98.

While there is no Half Price Books here in Bend, there is a Ross. I'll check there first and if I strike out, I'll order from Hamilton Books. Seeing that I have everything else Python on dvd, these two releases seem like a no brainer as well. Thanks to the OP!

Found one of these at Big Lots and the other at Ross a couple months ago around the same prices you paid. Never heard of this store, apparently there aren't any in Virginia. Shame, especially hearing the discounts some of you got on Criterions.
