Most of the stores in this area are the same slate of prices as your area, but there are 4 stores in particular that seem to be owned by the same franchise group and they have consistently run the b2g1 at these lower price points for the past 2 years or so. I actually never bother to visit any BBV outside of those 4, because I'd rather go to HWV if the prices are similar.

Checked out my local BBV today. They are running the B2G2 sale.

I really wanted Pan's Labyrinth but I didn't see it in their PV racks/section.

any idea when the Pan's 2-disc will be available in the PV section? I went to two BBV's the other day and neither had it.

I was happy to see both my local BBV's were running the B2G2F sale. I got 4 $9.99 titles, which made it equal to the 4/$20 sale.

-Hard Candy
-Deadly Outlaw Rekka (assume it's the corrected version)
-Lucky Number Slevin
-Nightwatch (Nochnoi Dozor)

I am looking specifically for the following titles,

Stranger than fiction
Rocky Balboa
Happy feet
Pursuit of happiness
The illusionist

Can some one confirm the used prices for these at Blockbuster? The last time I checked they were 14.99. I am waiting for the prices to go down to 9.99.

I don't remember the exact prices for those titles. I think they were all tagged $12.99-$14.99 when I was at BBV a couple days ago.

As of yesterday, at my store, they're all $14.99. I'll let you know if the price changes at all after tomorrow (when my store usually changes prices).

I don't know about other locations but' all of the Blockbusters in my area always seem to keep the children's movies at $14.99. Once in a while they will drop it to $12.99; but rarely do I see them @ $9.99!

We moved nine copies of the two-disc Pan's Labyrinth into the PV section today, at $14.99 each.

Everything you inquired about, psm129, is still at $14.99. Head DVD Nut is absolutely right about children's movies usually not dropping below $12.99, they sell the best, so we keep them expensive it would seem.

From what I could tell, the only new stuff we moved into the PV section today was Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girl, I didn't notice much else new.

Honestly, alot of stuff that gets moved into PVD depends on interest in the item. Once the majority of the title sits on the rental shelf, they start to move them. So Pan's Labyrinth is starting to trickle out. Usually only a couple a week so far.

This deal's really only decent for the 12.99 and up. For the 9.99 stuff it's essentially the same dea as before (4 for 20) which is pretty much seeming like a permanent sale. I'd really suggest going for the more expensive stuff, because when it ends it's likely going back to the 2 for 20 deal, as the 3 for 20 deal is very sporadic and usually associated with holiday weekends. You'll pretty much always be able to get 4 of the 9.99 titles for 20 bucks, but 4 15 dollar titles for 30 is the real deal right now. Got Borat, Casino Royale, The Prestige, and Stranger than Fiction myself (would've gotten Pan's if I hadn't owned it already).

Someone asked about price drops, and these are somewhat sporadic. Some stuff will drop to a low price when there is a heavy bulk of it, but when it starts to get more sporadic it will jump back up. If the stuff doesn't sell, like say, Marie Antoinette, it'll get reduced quick. If it does sell, like say the Departed, Pursuit of Happyness, and Happy Feet, it could be several months before they are marked down.

I got

About Schmidt
The Door in the Floor
The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio
In Good Company

For $12.70...great deal!

Considering I couldn't find The Prize Winner for less than $20.00, I'm pretty happy.

Not really. Though I suppose it depends on how many your store got to rent in the first place. Mine got like 4.

Where are you guys finding The Prestige. I have NEVER seen it used at either BBV or HWV. I was at BBV today looking to pick up Crank for my girlfriend (who's recovering from surgery for a broken arm and needing a Jason Statham fix) and I asked the clerk why they didn't have The Prestige and he said that all their pull orders said to destroy the copies, not put them up for PPV. WTF?!? This was an acclaimed film and no one can buy other than new?!? Meanwhile, 12,000 copies of About Schmidt and Epic Movie will be available. Pffft.

Picked up Marie Antoinette, The Illusionist (maybe he can pull a copy of The Prestige out of Jessica Biel's fine butt), Casino Royale (w/cheese) and Crank; all $14.99 except for that latter, which was $9.99.

Prestige might be hard to get. A lot of production companies loathe rental stores, especially previously viewed sales because they make nothing on them. So they'll say, give the store 100 copies to rent out, but the stores have to agree to trash say, 50 of them rather than mark them down. Prestige was one of those movies, like the guy said. There were a few others recently, like Little Miss Sunshine and Invicible. My store had no PRP for a long time, so I figured it was one, and I snagged the first one that came down. We went from like 90 rentals sitting on the shelf, toe 10 PRP and 80 rentals, and the PRP sold quick and we ended up trashing a massive amount of the copies, so now we're at like 15 rentals and no PRP. Kids movie companies usually act the same way, except they short the amount of rentals enough so that trashing won't be neccessary. It's why renting and getting used copies of anything by Disney can be a pain. I remember when we got like 60 copies of Cars, which was a huge hit. Meanwhile, another kid flick, like say The Lasy Mimzy, which was mostly a box office dud, will get 100 copies. It's usually in the hands of the production companies, and not the store.

Anyway, just in case anyone wanted it, my store marked down two copies of Ghost Rider tonight (the 2 disc edition) to 14.99. Can't guarentee other stores will have it, or at least a decent amount though, but if you want it you might want to try calling.

^Interesting. I wasn't aware of that -- can't imagine the stores having to discard piles of movies like that. Out of curiousity, how much does it cost rental stores like Blockbuster to purchase titles? Or am I correct to read your post literally, that production companies *give* rental stores their titles to rent out. It's all a little confusing to me.

FWIW, I bought the Prestige (and Invincible) at Blockbuster stores recently.
