I hope the prices would be near the online prices.

The Itasca store connected to their warehouse was small (about 20'x20') and charged MSRP

I stopped by the store earlier this week, but saw it wasn't opened yet. It's near Target just south of I-88 on Route 59. It's a pretty large store from what I could see peeking in.

They took over the old Christian Bookstore that went out of business. It looks pretty nice from the outside.

GuessWho,

The Itasca store always price matched the website whenever I was there. I would assume that the prices would be the same as the website, but you never know.

Yes, please post some pic's and also if you buy something, see if the on-line price is the same as the B&M. There used to be some kind of Christian bookstore in the mall close to me but its in one of those wings I never go down. I sure hope its closed up with DD comming soon hanging up, not likely, I guess.

warehouse? You couldn't walk around in the warehouse could you because then I really feel stupid. As the itasca store was just to small. They had alot of stuff but it seemed just a bit cramped in there.

reporting back: I got into the store today. Prices seemed a bit higher than the website (deadwood was 73 there, 55 on the website) but over all things were pretty consistant. The store is very nice, but nothing to write home about. Think about something like a borders, just switch their book and dvd sections. Books were really just the most popular ones, a small cd section in the back of the store. There were quite a few dvds there, a whole wall of criterion, and a little kids section. 20% off everything this weekend in the store (no coupon needed).

thats it!

Just got back from the store - pretty nice. A lot more spacious than the outlet store. The prices seemed to be a notch up from the website for some. I was hoping to get the latest Criterion/Eclipse ones that came out right after DD's 20% web sale, but Sweet Movie was about $24-25 (about $5 more than their site), and Late Ozu was $55 (about ten bucks more than DD's site). But with 20% off it would be about equal to their site. Most of the $40 listprice Criterions were about $31.xx. But they had a huge selection, which was very nice. A lot of Criterion discs I'd never seen in person.

Figures, I've lived in Naperville all my life and am just about to move to California in 3 weeks and they decide to open a DD store in my town. Ah well.

Just got back. Beautiful store!

Brightly lit, nice people working there (unlike Fry's), and IMO they are staying competitive with prices.

I actually went in there looking for Freaks and Geeks. They had it, and it was $3 cheaper than on the website, marked 39.60. Add to that it's 20% everything until next Saturday (automatically, no coupons needed), and it was a sweet deal.

They're also staying competitive on Blu-Ray and HD-DVD prices. Right now their prices are the same or better than Fry's. Most WB, Sony and Uni catalog titles are right at the $20 mark. Uni combos were $26.xx, as were many of the Fox titles.

Plus, they had Being John Malkovich out early so that was nice to pick up for $16. They also had the Hustle and Flow HD-DVD out but I passed that up.

I have to admit I've been staying away from the website because I have to pay tax to them, and their free shipping has always been problematic for me, so by the time I pay for 3-5 day shipping and tax I might as well go to Amazon. But I will definitely be checking this place out more in the future.

Where are you going to live in CA? Huntington Beach and Rancho Cucamonga have a DVDPlanet store and Criterions are 35% off every day.
