Not the dvd I wanted - but probably not worth the effort and hassle/waiting of the return. Sadly I am afraid this is my last DD sale. If your dvd cost a lot - then it would probably be worth it to you to go ahead and try a return.
I'm gonna take a guess and say that you ordered Harold & Kumar.....which is what I was going to order before I checked the UPC no. at the DVD empire site and it matched to the r-rated version (which I think actually is in full-screen is I am not mistaken.)
I was gonna pick this up too but I wouldnt want anything other than UR WS...
Oh well, I love DD and I have always defended them and continue to do so but with these new release pre-order issues and being sent the wrong book today I am a little ticked but those prices are good enough to wait a day or so till things get fixed...

It gets even funnier when DVDTalker's are getting different results when placing phone orders while some get the discount and others do not.

In my opinion this is not the way to run a business as DD should be forthcoming with information rather than responding "the discount should be available somethime later today".

This is a great way to get people to take their business elsewhere as is evidenced in previous posts.
Dave,

Thanks for the response.

Just to be sure, does this sale include storage units again or not? The Oskar is currently out of stock so I can't tell if the code would work or not. I can't believe I am out of space AGAIN. I see no mention of the storage units, but just wanted to be sure...

Thanks...

Most spent for me in one sale, but the Monty Python is for a friend that asked me to pick it up, the Kyle XY is for my Dad (he's hooked on the show), and I can't pass up the Brady Bunch set at that price... So much extra stuff that's cut out of the current reruns.

Oh, and yeah, the site just gave me a generic discount on when I ordered without showing the discount on each disc/set, but the email I received showed the discounted prices.

Yes! The 6/12 preorder DVDs now show up as "In Stock."

(It was rough seeing so many DVDTalkers going through withdrawal symptoms, but after a one day fast, your palates should be cleansed and ready to spend some money. It was a horrible one day for many, but most came through it with flying colors. June 12th will be a day that will be long remembered by many of us as we tell our great grandchildren how we toughed it out the many, many hours waiting for Deep Discount to fix their website.)

Ah, more from the crybabies.

How many of you are professional computer programmers?

None of you?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

To hear you talk... errr, I mean whine.... DD knew precisely what was wrong with their system the moment it happened, and they could have fixed it with a snap of their fingers but they decided that they didn't feel like making money yesterday, so they put up a perimeter of armed guards and trained attack dogs to keep anyone with any computer tech skill away from the system.

Before you shoot your mouths off again, go find people that know about maintaining a system that not only contains millions of items and the number of stock on hand, but also maintains a database of hundreds of thousands if not millions of customers, and handles thousands of transactions a day. And tell them that this system is at peak busy time when the incident occurred.

Then tell them that it should have been fixed in seconds. Please come back and tell us how long they laughed in your face.

And that's pretty much my last say in the matter.

For anyone considering The Complete Homicide ($77.90 after discount) but skeptical of what condition it will arrive from DDD (a.k.a. DentsDingsDamage):

Mine arrived yesterday. There is a plastic "guard" covering the entire front of the "file cabinet" box, under the shrinkwrap, which is designed to keep the metal (yes, metal!) handle from being damaged/bent/broken off, and it did its job well. There was no damage to the front of the box. OTOH, the rear bottom left corner of the box (which is THICK cardboard with a nice coating) was scrunched slightly, less than 1" square on all three sides of the corner. Annoying that such a nice package was damaged slightly, but not anywhere near worth the trouble to try and replace it.

Seasons 3 through 7 are each in one of these cases; Season 1/2 (which has only 4 discs) is in the four-disc version of this case (which has no hubs on the inside front and back). The bonus disc is in a standard one-disc case.

Episode titles and short descriptions are listed on "file tabs" which stand between each season in the file cabinet rather than on the individual cases. (The episode titles are also listed on the discs themselves.) The cases are similar to the boxes of the individual releases; the pictures (Polaroid-looking pics on the front) may or may not match the pictures on the main box. (The only individual set I already had was S1/2; the pictures from one of the slimcases were used for the case in the file cabinet.)

All in all, a beautiful package.

Edit: Two things I forgot to mention:

1. No floaters among the 35 discs of the set.
2. There are two pieces of styrofoam in the "file cabinet" to take up the empty space so that things don't move around and get damaged/start floating.

To add my own .02 to this thread, some of you feel like you're being cheated or something, by not being allowed to spend your money, like they're doing it on purpose. Obviously there's a reason, whatever it maybe intentional or not, or a glitch that's unintentional. I seriously doubt they're doing it on "purpose." Give it some time. I really don't think they want to prevent you from spending money.

CS people rarely know what are going on, with giving different answers to questions. Call up any company, and that will be the norm. During the 20% off sale, they usually have more people than they normally would, some probably from call centers that aren't their own or are just temp people who don't know everything, and some are just lazy and don't want to be bothered.

Being a private company, they don't have to explain their reasoning for things either. While everyone wants to know everything, when some studios in the past elected not to participate in the sale, DD was kind enough to let us know, when in reality, they could just leave people in the dark. If not for this site, people wouldn't know what was going in or the reasoning behind it.

And as far as one CS rep telling one person it will be fixed later, while I don't doubt what that person was told, like I said above, not all CS people know what is going on, or are told one thing, and things change and/or aren't right.

again, just my .02, but I'd give DD the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure it'll be fixed, and everyone can go about spending more of their money.
Pilot,

While I appreciate your reply I feel a need to respond.

It doesn't matter to me whether a company is public or private as I'm not investing in DD I'm just a customer buying their product. Alhough most DVDTalkers probably feel they should own part of DD seeing how some people spend loads of money on the site.

The CSR issue is understandable as all people are different. While some people want to help others could really care less. Was it really too much to ask to have a message in the DVDTalk forum or on the DD web site explaining the issue? How hard would it have been to give the CSR's a message "We realize there is problem and are working on the issue."

When people expect something to happen, like the DD discount on released titles, and it does not there are going to be questons as that's the beauty of a forum. My feeling is that alot of these purchases are impulse buys so people are just a little more frustrated when they expect a sale and it doesnt happen or is seemingly postponed for no apparent reason.

Be honest. If you expected a sale to happen at a local store for an item you really wanted and it wasn't on sale and no reason was given would you be upset or even a little frustrated?

Oh well. It's behind us now. Let the spending begin.
