I'm assuming the answer to this question is no, but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask:

Does this sale include preorders?

thanks

cmleidi 06-05-07 02:54 PM

You can use the coupon multiple times. I did notice that the discount could not be combined with my frequent buyer points.

Your assumption is correct. Not valid on preorders, same as the DD sale.

I just tried to place an order and got the following message:

Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.
JRun closed connection.
Looks like they weren't quite ready to pull the trigger on the sale.

victor_vc 06-05-07 03:01 PM

can this be combined with google checkout?

I just got an e-mail that said they couldn't process my order for Eraserhead because it has been discontinued. Bummer.

It worked for me. I applied the points first and then the discount code.

jmj713 06-05-07 03:38 PM

The Late Ozu set will be a real bargain when it's released next week.

Just wondering, why do you care about using google checkout for this promotion?

alfonsosoriano 06-05-07 04:12 PM

God, the addition of used items just adds more for me to try and hold off on buying!

Joel Goodsen 06-05-07 04:21 PM

I know every product can vary, but how are DVDplanet on getting titles back in stock? I have an order waiting but one of the DVDs....I'll admit it, SHREDDER, a slasher flick :D  , is not in stock and I plan on waiting untill it is before I order.

Has anyone got a rough idea at all please?

mifuneral 06-05-07 04:30 PM

He probably doesn't want to create another account, which would involve attaching his credit card to yet another vendor's site. That's the entire point to Google Checkout, though perhaps that point was lost on people who only care about the sign up bonus.

I guess that kind of thing worries some people, but I would not pass up this deal just for that.

I thought it might be because he wants to use the same account to accumulate the rewards points. You should be able to log-in into DVDPlanet using the email address you signed up with Google Checkout and the password of GOOGLE if that was the concern (this is what I have been doing until I changed my password today).

SimpsonsFan 06-05-07 04:37 PM

I've just been casually browsing, but from what I've seen most of DVDplanet's prices are a tad higher than DDD. Also, when you factor in shipping and tax, I'll definitely be passing on the planet.

I think for most things they are pretty much even. You get free s&h if you buy over $25 and I have to pay tax at either place.

Also remember, that DVDPlanet offers a reward program deepdiscount does not have and also sells used DVDs (again something deepdiscount does not offer).

DDD is usually cheaper, but Planet always has the best prices for Criterions across the board. So if you want to buy Criterion DVD's, stick with the Planet.

Sondheim 06-05-07 05:11 PM

mattress_man 06-05-07 05:11 PM

Is Homicide: The Complete Series totally discontinued from dvdplanet? I tried ordering it and recieved an e-mail later saying it was discontinued. Thought that was strange since there was just a price drop on it a week back...

I have $175 in store credit, but I can't even get on the website right now. I will be loading up if I can get in there.

rick_k 06-05-07 05:48 PM

I was able to get an order through, no glitches with the website. Here is my measly order:

Catalog: WBD066912 (used)
Title: Forbidden Planet (Special Edition/1956)
Qty: 1
Price: $10.78

Had to pay an additional $1.00 in shipping, since my order was less than $25.

Pookymeister 06-05-07 05:49 PM

just sent in $150 worth of tradeins - but im guessing they won't be processed by the time this sale ends...rats

alfonsosoriano 06-05-07 06:14 PM

For me, I've found a few items I wanted that are both about $3 cheaper at DVD Planet, so that's good. Plus I don't mind buying used at all. Even better.

alk3hol 06-05-07 06:43 PM

It's been Tuesday, June 5 for 18 hours and 25 minutes now. Henry Rollins Show - Season 1 is still showing up as a preorder and the discount will not work on it. Also, where the hell is The Dead Zone - Season 5? It also came out today...

darkside 06-05-07 07:01 PM

Grabbed the following:

Beauty And The Beast (1946) Criterion Collection
$20.77 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Third Man (Special Edition) Criterion Collection
$20.77 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Hitchcock - 3 Disc Collector's Edition (2006)
$23.96 - Quantity: 1

Battle of the Bulge (1965) Blu-ray Disc

Well I was able to order the Rollins set this morning and used a discount on it (it is listed OOS at the moment).

Last time I tried the GCO at dvdplanet, it didn't even work.

Depends on where you live. Savings for California shoppers are usually wiped out by the added 8.25% sales tax. At least we don't have to price-compare DVP with DD. :sarcasm:

zombeaner 06-05-07 07:54 PM

I picked a used copy of Takashi Miike's Negotiator for $12. Getting one step closer to completing the collection, that will put me at 30 DVDs from Miike.

You have to delete it from your cart and re-add it. I had the same problem...

Yep, me too. Glad I didn't order them from DDD. I crossed my fingers that DVDP would come through...

MikeShaynePI 06-06-07 12:09 AM

I checked just to see how much my order I placed with DeepDiscount today would have cost me through DVDPlanet. $135 for DD, 150 for DVDPlanet. Looks like I picked the right place.

actionjackson29 06-06-07 12:30 AM

Has anyone been able to get the Homicide complete series set or it really discountinued?

alk3hol 06-06-07 12:58 AM

It worked. Thanks!

My order:
Black Swan (1942)$7.96
Henry Rollins Show - Season 1 (2006)$12.85

Total: $20.81

I had to order The Dead Zone Season 5 from DD.

I don't know if the set is OOP, but DP has it in stock. If you're jonesin' for it, I'd get it while you can.

Anna Karina 06-06-07 01:20 AM

I didn't wanna make a new thread so...

Could someone explain to me how this selling my dvds to dvd planet works?

I'm looking up some dvds on the quote prices thing and I'm getting pretty good price results.

How long does this take, do I pay for shipping, etc.?

Anything would help.

alfonsosoriano 06-06-07 01:42 AM

I just made my first DVD Planet order:

Zombie Soldiers Two-fer (1974/1997)

Toxic Avenger IV - Citizen Toxie (Unrated)
$9.56 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Matrix Revolutions (Widescreen)
