DVD Planet: 20% off sale B&M ONLY (NOT ONLINE)

I got the flyer for the B&M stores. 20% off is on right now at the store. 99% chance it'll be online soon.

Arpeggi 06-03-07 10:25 AM

I'm gonna go pick up some Criterions at 35% off + 20% sale when they open at 10 am. We get charged tax in CA on the website so might as well get the exact same price and not wait 1 week for the films!

HE Pennypacker 06-03-07 10:53 AM

Good news OP.

DVDmaniac14 06-03-07 11:06 AM

so i guess this isn't online :( only in-store?

Arpeggi 06-03-07 11:20 AM

Yes, it's in store right now.

Sondheim 06-03-07 11:45 AM

If this goes online my wallet is going to really, really hate me.

I've already spent $200 at the DeepDiscount sale (and I plan to spend at least $100 more on releases coming out in the next 2 weeks) - and there are a ton of Criterion DVDs I've been meaning to pick up...

flashburn 06-03-07 11:56 AM

Good to hear. Hopefully it will start online soon.

tbickle 06-03-07 11:58 AM

uhh, there are B&M DVDPlanet stores? Any in L.A.?

It's all conjecture, nothing official. The B&M store is having a 20% sale so the OP is assuming it will happen online.

It would appear the B&M store is getting a head start. Last year during the fall Deep Discount 20% off sale DVD Planet had their own 20% off sale for the first time. I believe Deep Discount's was almost over when DVD Planet started theirs, so Deep Discount extended theirs about a week. Hope this helps. :D

kenbuzz 06-03-07 12:27 PM

Can a mod change the title of this thread to "B&M Only", please?

Thanks!

DVDPlanet B&M had the sale last June too.

Just got back from the HB store.

Got a few $39.99 MSRP Criterions for $20.77 each!

Sparrow 06-03-07 01:19 PM

It would be nice if DVDPlanet has a similar 20% off sale.

I have a few Criterions that I'd like to pick up to fill in some gaps in my Ozu collection, plus the Grey Gardens set, along with Monterey Pop. I could go on, but I'll limit my purchases to ~$200 (just sold off my Buffy complete set, so I have some space in my shelving unit, crying out for Criterions ;))

Mr Bear1116 06-03-07 01:38 PM

I would rather an online sale wait, as I ordered a bunch from DD and RightStuf is seemingly having one of it's 10 for $50 or 25 for $100 sales tomorrow. Why the hell are the retail stores in CA when the wherehouse is in Itasca, IL? o.O Didn't there actually used to be a Deep Discount or Digital Eyes Outlet Store in Itasca?

Yay for you.

moonraker 06-03-07 03:32 PM

Keeping my fingers crossed for an on-line sale, too. Have a lot of store credit that's been waiting for this to come along.

The DVD Planet store was around long before Deep Discount bought DVD Planet. It used to be in the hands of Ken Crane's, which is a TV retail chain in So Cal. I believe it was around in the days of Laserdiscs as well (At their old location further north on Beach Blvd.)

I haven't ordered from DVDplanet before but I'm a bit confused why this is better than DD's 20% off sale - I picked up a several Criterions that list for 39.95 that are $20.70 after 20% DD's list price (Brute Force, Naked City, etc)

Some prices are lower at Digitaleyes than DDD and vice versa. Plus, you can also use frequent buyer points and Paypal at Digitaleyes as well.

excom101 06-03-07 05:25 PM

DVD Planet's May coupons run until June 15. So, IF they are going to have the sale, I imagine it would be after those expire.

Not necessarily, they could just add 20% off coupons to their already existing ones that expire 6/15, and let people decide which is better for them, and it's not like you can use two at once, so it makes no difference..

Because ALL $39.95 are $20.77. Not a select few.
