Why did someone un-sticky this? Usually we have it left at the top for the duration of the sale...

If people are looking for recommendations of HD DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs be sure to check out DVD Talk's Review DB section devoted to them:

Ah, that's something else I should have in the FAQ, links to reviews. I'll get those in with the next update, probably tomorrow or the day after.

Actually it's "überlong" meaning "overlong" using the most common German definition of über. It also can mean "above, meta, and super" depending on the context in which it's used. The most common use in English is as a synonym meaning "super" and is typically spelled without the umlaut as in "uberlong".

That would be ok, but not if it discourages people from posting their overall lists. I get lots of ideas for things I might like by seeing other people's lists, and it's not hard for me to research them quickly before actually purchasing to be sure I'm getting the best deal I can.

IIRC, it was more than 1% that experienced price increases prior to the sale.
I just checked my wishlist against a copy I made a week ago for just this purpose. Only 1 (ONE) DVD had gone up more than .01 and only 3-4 out of over 50 had the penny increase. The one that really went up was $10.48 last week and is now $14.23. I'll wait until another time for it...

Those were all the Universal $10.48 sale items, and they ended that sale so they're no longer $10.48

It looks like the sale has begun. I entered "dvdtalk" as the promotional code, and the 20% off discount shows up for items in my cart.

Best,
Trev

Add 'JIM' as another valid code. I think it's from the Jim Rome Show.

Yeah, the sale "officially" starts tomorrow, but they activated the DVDTALK code early for us.

Actually, it is a Paramount title but I really didn't pay attention to whether or not it was on sale prior to the 20% off. It probably was as the "why pay" price is $19.94, so $14.23 would be a "normal" price for the selection. In that case, as far as I'm concerned, NOTHING on my wishlist is truly higher than before the sale. It makes me wonder just how many of the titles people complain about were "on sale" in the weeks prior to the "big one"?

No need for this section any more, there is no longer such a beast as "DDD Canadian site".

Ah. I was confused. Thanks

and as far as your last comment about how many titles people complain about were "on sale" in the weeks prior, the answer is probably 90%

I asked this in the other one, didn't see this thead:

Does anyone know if the bill me later 90 day no interest thing is in effect?

I generally use that but... now here is something we should all take note of, at least those of us using bill-me-later. I just went to their website and it is no longer there. It is register.com and you can bid on the domain name now.

Has bill-me-later gone out of business? I just paid off a 60 dollar debt there and got a reply for it a day or two ago and now their site is down during the time I use them most. Be careful here.

I know it is still an option there but I am not ready to order until Tuesday. Is Bill Me Later working?

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks! Work has me running a little bit ragged (as do the weekly threads I maintain here and elsewhere), but I hope to use my next day off (Monday) to edit the FAQ with all the new suggestions. Keep 'em coming! I may organize all the info, but it's through the effort of everyone here that I have it in the first place.

Wow. Quite peculiar. I've used BML quite a bit these last few months at DD and other places. I've still got my mailed invoice.

That 90 days "No Interest" plan was only in effect for last summer's sale. It was on minimum of $100. They didn't bring it back for last November and other merchants utilizing BML usually have a minimum of a $250 purchase.
