Barnes & Noble Buy 2 DVD's get the 3rd free May 30th-June 26th in-store and online

The title says it all. It was mentioned in the coupons thread, but I figured now is a good time to start planning your DVD purchases. I confirmed the start date with a co-worker today, I'm guessing the end date...I know it runs through the majority of June. They haven't sent the Music/DVD Dept. all of the details, but it should be the same as the last few years. I recommend special ordering your titles soon in case we get a similar situation as the TV on DVD sale from a few months back, when they ran out of so many titles. Remember BN holds special orders for 2 weeks, but my store and others will hold for longer if you ask.

P.S. this is mostly in-store, last couple of years though they've had a few select titles online.

Does this include box sets, or singles only?

Everything. It's a weird deal, cause it sounds too good to be true, yet BN has most of their stuff @ MSRP. So you have to be strategic and plan ahead to get the better deals. Having a membership card (or have access to one) helps a lot since you can use that too.

I wouldn't call this deal too good to be true. Buy 1 Get 1 Free is too good to be true.

will they be limiting it in any way? I am referring to combining with coupons or 1 time use per customer?

Last couple of years they didn't allow it with any other offers, but they've changed the coupon system...so probably not, but i'll check when more info comes available. But there's a standing rule in the DVD/Music Dept. that all items that are 39.99 and up have an automatic 10% off, and that doesn't change for the sale. So criterions are MSRP'd @ 39.99, but after discount they're 35.99, with membership they're around 32-33.xx (bad at math). you get the idea.

Wonder if this will work with Blu Ray and HD-DVD....

I've used 20% off coupons before for ship to home for some Blu Ray/ HD DVD and it worked great. Hopefully this will be the case

Sometimes some studios do not "want" to participate and their DVD's are removed from the store shelves, unless you get lucky to get there early on before they do. But those DVD's of some of them, I have seen in years past, available online, which was in the past, one time only - with in-store, as much as wanted.

Ah....that's why I got a bigger discount then I expected whenever I bought Lost on the buy1 get 1 deal.

Yep -- that is where I have stocked up on some of my TV series for me and gifts, especially the one year where they had the extra 10% off the WHOLE transaction coupon which REALLY stacked with the 10% off for everyone + my member 10% then + the coupon 10% and then each set was 1/3 of that total. So close to 30% off and then 1/3.

Problem is that 10% off the WHOLE transaction has not appears again - to my knowledge.

Was that online? or did you try calling and doing a ship to store? It usually only takes a couple of days and they hold for 14 days (or longer if you ask them). Last time I worked in the DVD dept at my store we had a few in stock...this was a few weeks ago.

dunno about in store, but after looking at the online portion of this sale, im disgusted. No wonder this thing isn't heavily advertised on their site or anything. They've jacked up the prices considerably on the items that are included in the sale to full msrp. Even with the coupons and membership, these items can be found for much cheaper elsewhere. (Twilight zone complete for full $300???, this was $209 on their site just a month or so ago, and after coupons could be bought for under half msrp!).

They do this every year for the sale. Everything goes up to MSRP. I am dissapointed because I was going to pick up the MASH Martinis set and it is not part of the sale. Costco was out of it when I went up last week. Pllttthh.

How did you get the coupon code to work? I try mine and it works on single orders, but if I do the buy 2 get 1 free, it says it is not eligible. Damn BN. They are smart this time. lol

Better hurry and get in on this guys. They are yanking dvds off the list online as we speak. I was going to get all the Stargate seasons, but now they took those off the list.

You were probably able to use it before they shut it down. They are being a lot more careful this time.
