Free HD DVD with purchase of Toshiba HD player at Best Buy?

I know that Best Buy will run this promotion from time-to-time. any idea on when the next one might be? That might nudge me in that direction

It was 4 free last week, I think. A couple of which were Dukes of Hazard and Underworld: Evolution. Maybe Batman Begins being the third. Can't remember the last one.

I doubt it was Underworld - That is a BD exclusive. Are you remembering Target giing away a BD with a PS3 purchase?

Last time I paid attention - it was 4 or 5 free HD-DVDs with purchase of the player. I think that was a Toshiba deal though, not a store special, because it seems like I saw it in the CC ad too.

I could be wrong - I haven't been actively shopping them so that I was paying real close attention.

Next week they are doing the 4 free with the purchase of the A20. You choose the titles, you just can't choose the boxsets.

You get these at POS and the toshiba free ones are in addition to this!

I did this same deal back with the A2 when they were running it.

So this is like nine free HD-DVDs, huh? You get four instantly at Best Buy and another five through the Toshiba mail in deal. Wow...that's not a bad deal.

FYI: The HD-DVD of Underworld: Evolution is available as an import. And as most of you know HD-DVDs are region free. So, it will play on any HD-DVD player.

I've been on the fence and the additional free discs from Toshiba would be a selling point... if the selections and restrictions weren't so awful. There's only one movie out of the choices that I'd consider owning, and you have to pick from a few groupings as opposed to simply picking the specific movies you want. Or is there an updated selection listing and a revamped selection process?

I don't know about the Toshiba choice restrictions but there are over 200 titles that you can choose from at Best Buy & at the web site.

Yeah, choosing nearly any four free movies from Best Buy is a beautiful thing; the mail-away freebies Toshiba offers are terribly limited and unappealing.

The form to get the five free HD-DVDs is here (as a PDF). The title listing appears to be the same as when I'd looked previously, only you get five now instead of four.

I bought one of the players from Best Buy last month when the offer was 5 free HD DVDs by mail AND 4 free instantly in the store. Here is the thing.

In the store I was able to get BOX SETS for free!

The HD DVDs are not in sub-categories in the store. On line the system will not allow you to receive box sets for free but in the store you can. I got the player plus the Soprano's season 6 $119.99, Mission Impossible 3 pk $79.99, Smallville season 5 $69.99 and Superman Returns $34.99. I then returned the Smallville set last week and got Planet Earth $99.99 instead.

I am still waiting on my 5 free HD DVDs by mail. Each has a value of $24.99 each.

Player was then on sale for $378.99 and I got a price adjustment.

$460 retail worth of HD DVDs for FREE!!!

I just bought my player on 4/26 after it looked like they weren't going to run that promotion again. I wonder if they would give them too me a few weeks laters....

Hey all,

Not only did they give me this deal even after buying the player two weeks ago, but they gave me PLANET EARTH and three other titles for free
It was a good day
