Q: Good blind buy for a huge fan of The Departed?

A resounding HELL YES for the first film. I cannot speak for the sequels though (which many claim, as is usually the case, is far inferior to the first film).
Spoiler:
IMO, Infernal Affairs is better than The Departed.

I swear I just saw this at wally (er, wal-mart) or something for 29.9x.

Unfortunately I don't remember with enough certainty to be sure that's WHERE I saw it...

The one I go to HAD a bunch. I was there today and couldn't find one. I did notice they now have an Asian/Kung Fu section.

HK version is way way better compared to US version plus the actors is the BEST.

Jah-Wren Ryel 03-08-07 02:19 AM

The US version is kind of a combination of all 3 movies into one, with a concentration of the details from the first one. I've seen both and I suspect that for many people it will be the case that they prefer the version they saw first.

Dont mislead people... The second and third part of the Original HK trilogy has nothing to do with the Departed.

I beg to differ. Part 2 is usually better (original Star Wars, Superman, Rocky, Back to the Future, etc). In any case, I've seen all three and I like them all - Infernal Affairs II, then I, then III.

The Departed has a lot more background story in it than the first Infernal Affairs does. Obviously there is nowhere near the detail of an entire 2nd movie.
