Was a no go at the Fenway BB in Boston around 12:45. Tried to get 2 copies of Mystic River - rang up as $20.98. Wanted one for me and one for my folks. No complaints, as I got 6 B1G1F movies last night. Thanks OP - this was a fantabulous deal!

Thanks for pointing that out. Whether or not I am correct, I just fail to comprehend that a place like BB would let this "error" go on for so long. It may be true that some stores prevented people from getting the deal, but from the anecdotal reports here and elsewhere, they are few and far between.

It boggles the mind to think that senior management was not aware of this by some time on Monday, at the latest, and that they apparently did not lay down the law to each store manager to prevent this if this was really an error. At the very least, they could have ordered the stores to take the itmes off the shelves until this glitch was fixed. They did not do that, and some reports indicated that some stores actually re-stocked or brought out additional copies of these titles once their displays were depleted.

As to the poster who mentioned these are selling below wholesale, that may have been true, but the reports that Tower DVDs were appearing on the shelves appears to indicate that they bought these titles at a distress sale, and very likely if so, wholesale prices just don't figure into that equation, at all.

Or buy two cheap DVDs, $5 max but they probably have some for as low as a penny, and get two free 300 DVDs.

Worse case scenario: for $10 you can get two cheap movies and two 300 sets.

I agree! Three entire days and then some is a lifetime!! There never was any mention from the powers that be that this would last the entire week and those who thought so were being foolish in the extreme.

Sad to hear that the deal is dead. I had planned on getting Batman and Batman Returns later this evening in Charlottesville, VA, but thanks to this forum, I'm saved a trip. But also thanks to this forum, I scored 14 2-disc Special Edition DVDs for otherwise I would have payed much more. Thanks again to the thread starter, and for all the posters who have kept us updated throughout the sale. It is nice to know that a community like this exists, if only in cyberspace, and that we may help each other out along this crazy path we call collecting DVDs.

I picked up all the titles I was really interested in (8 total, $37.86 total over 2 days with 2 300 discs). So, I am quite satisfied with what this deal gave me. Any more buying of the remaining titles would have been frivilous spending.

When I went to BB earlier in the week, the cashier thought I was just buying the 2 300 DVDs, when she went for the total it adjusted to $0.00. She hadn't even rung up the other two DVDs I had. She asked me if that was right and I said "Yeah, they're supposed to be free with a DVD purchase." So she printed it a reciept and handed it to me with a total of $0.00. She then went on to do another transaction for the other things I had.

Point is, you might not even have to pay $9.99 (or a cent) for them.

I'm glad I was able to get in on this while I could! I didn't get everything I wanted, but that doesn't matter. Thanks tophrman.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think distribution centers will sticker the product for the retailers - so they can just place the items on the shelf.

My guess is that this pre-stickered inventory, which never belonged to Tower, got shifted to BB.

I went in at 12:56pm and got Citizen Kane and Bullit and paid $21.33 total....grrrrr. Not bad prices (compared to what their stickers say) but I hate missing paying half that by less than an hour. Should have gone out there earlier this week, but did not have the time.

I went in around 12:59pm and I also got screwed out of this deal. Picked up Shawkshank Redemption and Se7en for $20 not bad but definitly not as good as $10. Here's to hoping best buy has another glitch.

Dammit! Finally made my way to Best Buy and they had the only two titles I was looking for Amadeus and A Room with a View, (they had plenty of 300 discs as well) but they did not ring up correctly. So bummed, did not buy them for $20 because I made myself promise that I'd only buy them if the glitch worked. lol.

you were right, despite what the other poster said, there are no Fox titles in the b1g1f deal. it was only Warner and New Line titles (NL is owned by Warner).

I purchased 14 great titles from this the other day. I went back today around 1:30 to get 6 more and some 300 discs, but when I went to the register I was very disappointed. I told the cashier they should be B1G1 and she said it wasn't coming up because I could only get one one of the deals (B1G1 or the free 300). Tried it again and it didn't show up. The manager came over and she said she never even heard of the B1G1 deal. She said that deal was last week, and since it wasn't advertised this week it was probably a glitch. Since the deal wasn't coming through I decided to pass. I'm very happy with the 14 I got the other day. Great deal...Hope it happens again!
So I guess the deal of the year is officially dead.

It was mentioned about 20 pages ago... But before some of you run out and spend $10 each for these DVDs ($5 each is a steal) you really owe it to yourself to read the clubs forum. Most of these are available for enrollment, if done correctly you'll end up paying ~ $6 to $7 on average and an enrollment box with 6 or 7 will run you under $15... I'm not that up to date on the current codes.

Anyhoo, I'm glad I got in on Vendetta since it's not available from CH as an enrollment. So, another to the OP.
