Thanks for the 50% coupon. Used it to get 24 season 6 for $16.72. Coupled it with a book for the wife to get free shipping. B&N has really been coming through with some good deals this fall.

You're welcome...
I agree with you about the good deals. I was skeptical about paying to become a member, but it has totally been worth it, and I won't hesitate to renew. I'll take B&N over Borders anyday...

That 50% off coupon is just awesome and I thought 25% off was their maximum.

Kenbenbobi, do you know of another 50% off coupon?

By the way, I notice that people are using that 50% off coupon on relatively smaller price items. Wouldn't it better to use it on the big box set of multiple tv seasons like the Charmed Complete Series, West Wing Complete Series, Friends Complete Series, etc.

Another big thanks for the 50% coupon! I got the West Wing Complete Series set, which I've been wanting for a long time. I was just waiting for a good deal.

I love my B&N membership and my B&N MasterCard. I joined last January, and I have recouped that $25 membership fee in member savings many times over. I will definitely be renewing.

This is no joke. 50% off ONE item if you pay with a Mastercard and are a B&N member!!! Expires 11/11. I got this in snail mail, so it is legit...
50% off of what? List price, regular price, or "members pay" price?

Since it is a member coupon that would be "members" price.

Question: do you find enough good deals at BN.com to warrant the $25 membership fee? Compared to the regular B&M stores (BB, Target, etc.).

Actually, I don't think this is the case. They seem to take the discount from the non-member price (the price before the 10% member discount).

Yes. I do, at least. Most big new releases are 30% or 20% off release week and the additional member discount, plus frequent 15% off coupon usually makes BN the best deal for what I'm interested in. Plus they almost always ship the pre-releases the day of release, and I get it UPS the next day.

Thanks! I signed up for membership and got the Angel complete series set for a grand total of $76.27. That's actually $6.26 cheaper than what I would be paying at Deep Discount with a November 20% off code. Even if I use the B&N membership discount on just this one order, I saved money.

BN.com uses the "online price" when calculating coupon discounts and the member 10% discount. I used the 50% coupon to order the Kubrick box set:

List price $79.98
Online price $71.98 (10% off)
50% coupon -$36.00 (50% of the online price)
10% member disc. -$7.19 (10% of the online price -- not sure why they didn't round it up to $7.20!)

TOTAL $28.79 (That's 64% off the list price!)

And I have a BN Mastercard, so I get a 5% credit/refund on my monthly statement (which nearly covers the 6% sales tax).

So, yes, if you buy a decent amount of DVDs and use the coupon codes (thanks to everyone who posts them!!!), it's definitely worth it.

You're correct. I checked an order and the discount does come off the non-member price. I stand corrected.

Also beware of a possible glitch with the 25% coupon. When I used it earlier today it added a $2.98 shipping charge to an order that should have had free shipping. However it may only happen on orders that go below $25 after applying the coupon. I had to argue with a CSR to get the shipping charges removed. Actually she didn't believe me until I pointed out with a 15% coupon it would still give you free shipping if the total went below $25 with it applied.

I'll be the first to jump on Ford:

Subtotal: $239.98
Member Discount: -$143.99
Sales Tax: $2.78

Order Total $98.77
(You saved $2.98 on shipping)

That is so hot!

I noticed this too, and didn't want to have to call and fight for it. So I just added something else onto the order that I kinda wanted anyway...

YES! They typically put new releases on sale for 30% off, plus have 15% off (or more) coupons all the time, in addition to the 10% off for being a member. After all is said and done, there are usually great deals. Only catch is shipping is only free if the order is $25+ (BEFORE coupons). But it is UPS 3-day shipping, so that's a bonus...

Damn you! I had other plans for my coupon, but now that you've pointed this out, I might have to sway my decision, even though I already own seasons 1-8 (but they are all still sealed). With Christmas coming up, I could easily unload them...

So can I just bring in the coupon terms and conditions and use it in the store? They list a coupon code for the store as well. Here are the terms:

"Store Coupon 71-00115-1107 and Online Coupon P7N6J9K Offer Details:

For each valid and current Barnes & Noble Member account, this coupon can be redeemed once at any Barnes & Noble retail store and once online at bn.com. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores. Member must make full payment with a valid MasterCard card. The additional 50% discount will be applied to one (1) item in the purchase as designated by the Member - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after the standard Member discount is applied. Online, the discount will be applied to the most expensive item in the order.

This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and online Gift Certificates); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, online Gift Certificates, gift-wrapping, textbooks, shipping or handling expenses, the books HELMUT NEWTON'S SUMO (ISBN 3822863947), GOAT: GREATEST OF ALL TIME: A TRIBUTE TO MUHAMMAD ALI (ISBN 3822816272) and GOAT: GREATEST OF ALL TIME: A TRIBUTE TO MUHAMMAD ALI (Champ's Edition, ISBN 3822830682), Antarctica: Explorer Series, Vol. 1 (ISBN 0969255756), Summa Theologiae (ISBN 052169048X) or products provided via Barnes & Noble BookQuest LLC (e.g. used books, PC and video games, etc.); and (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the bn.com website. Multiple use of this discount (including photocopying) is prohibited.

Except for the standard Member discount available through the Member program and other non-coupon discounts generally available on products sold at Barnes & Noble stores and online at bn.com, this coupon may not be combined with any other discount promotion or coupon.

so can you use the coupon on a item you order for in-store pickup. For example, say you print out the coupon designated for instore use and then call up the barnes and noble of your local area and then fax the coupon to them. Thereafter place the order over the phone for item not currently in stock at the brick and mortar store and ask for in-store pickup. Would they allow you to do this?

you probably need a printout from the bn.com website or the snail mailed coupon some are reporting receiving. Usually the coupon can be used once online and once in store. If you have a link to the coupon please post.

How do you get the coupon to use in a store? Is there a link? Since I already used it at BN.com it says it can be used once in store as well. Usually BN have a link for a printable store coupon with the online codes.
