I haven't gotten the extra 5%, but I've used the link to get free shipping on orders under $25.
(Like George of the Jungle: The Complete Original Series for $12 and The Lost Weekend for $6.)

For some reason, I keep getting an error message when I try using the Visa link together with a 20% coupon (something like "this coupon is not valid with the order listed"). I was trying to use it to order CDs (have two memberships so was going to use it twice)...the message doesn't say the code has expired or incorrect, just that it's invalid with the items I'm trying to order. I used other codes recently for items over $25 (when the shipping issue was moot), but can't get any codes to work with the FS.

Anybody have any guesses as to what's going wrong?

I had no problem using the Visa link. Got the free shipping, 5% off, and then the additional 20% off using code. El Cid for $15 and change.

If you are trying to use one of the 20% off coupons that sayd Members (renewals) you must renew your membership for the coupon to work. Use one of the other coupons and you should be fine...

Just a heads up - the H9W4M7Y code, as mentioned above, is for 25% off of the list price, not member price.

The fine print on that coupon also says "Note: If Member Price provides greater savings than price with coupon discount, then Member Price will apply."

I tried using it on The Last Emperor, which is 30% off already, and it didn't take.

Oh good grief, Borders is coming to mind here. I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

I just tried using the coupon and it won't work on anything discounted 20% or more with a membership. It seems to only work on items 15% off to list price with a membership account. Anything discounted above that and your order will only have the member discount applied. Coupon H9W4M7Y is worthless when compared to the other 25% code. In fact using a 10% will give you a better discount.

Here is an example below of the discounts using both 25% coupons on the same DVD that was initially 10% off before coupon and member dsicount. The member discount was $4.50 before the coupons. If this is an experiment of future coupons from B&N they can expect to lose my business.

Edit: I ran another comparison using a 10% coupon code.

Magnum, P.I. - Season 5 $44.98 Online price (Save 10%)

Coupon H9W4M7Y
Product Total: $44.98
Discounts: -$7.50
Shipping: Free
Estimated Tax: $2.90

Order Total: $40.38

Coupon R9Y3F8Y 25%
Product Total: $44.98
Discounts: -$15.75
Shipping: Free
Estimated Tax: $2.27

Order Total: $31.50

Coupon T4K9U4D 10%
Product Total: $44.98
Discounts: -$9.00
Shipping: Free
Estimated Tax: $2.79

Order Total: $38.77

How did you get it down to $15? Even with a 25% off coupon it's still $22.25 for me.

Since crweb hasn't responded I'll hazard a guess that the price was that low because it was the deluxe edition rather than the limited collector's edition. When searching for "El Cid" the result that comes up is the LCE but there is an "other format" link to the DE.

Thanks for keeping us updated with the coupon codes LASERMOVIES! I used the 25% coupon R9Y3F8Y to pre-order "Absolutely Fabulous: Absolutely Everything" for $69.54 (incl. tax).

Brilliant!

If you paid with a credit card I guess you can try disputing the charge. You mentioned a few months so I don't know if that means 60 days have passed. Generally you have 60 days to dispute. Throwing the book away wasn't a smart move.

I had a similar experience about a month ago. I ordered a DVD along with a book. When the order arrived there were 2 books I never ordered. When I checked the packing slip it listed the correct items. I immediately called customer service to inform them of the screw up. They issued a replacement order and sent a pre-paid mailing label to return the books. While I wasn't happy about the mistake at least they quickly took care of the problem. However I didn't throw the books in the trash.

I ordered Curb Your Enthusiam S6 a couple weeks ago and got PBS Jewish Americans Volume 2 DVD instead. (I guess they were kinda close! )

I called up and they sent a replacement and a return label to mail back the other DVD. Sounds like they have problems in their warehouse!

Stupid question: Did this coupon expire at midnight (PST) last night or does it expire at midnight tonight?

It should have expired last night. If you click the link for the printable coupon it says it has expired.

I guess you could always go to your local store and buy a different crappy book to replace it, and send that one back to 'em instead...

Have B & N done away with the 25% off coupons? None last week except one for new accounts, and only one the week prior. Also, am I the only one who can't get the 20% off coupons to work? The 15% coupon works just fine.
