I've heard the same rumblings but nothing has shown up in the tech mags that I try to read at work.

Wow, a $399.99 laptop, from HP?! I'd be interested in hearing more about that one.

When you think about it, it's really the NEXT logical progression if the world is to be completely wired / connected.

At Circuit City...... I really like that Lenovo I put into my Store Notes section. With rebate applied you're at your 699.99 price point. If you want something a bit cheaper at CC, I'd go with the:
HP Pavilion Notebook
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2060
Microsoft Windows Vista Basic
Built in 802.11b/g wireless LAN
Burns & Plays DVDs & CDs
512 MB DDR2
80 GB HD
5.1 media reader
WEB ID = DV6250US
$699.99 BEFORE $100 Mail in Rebates
The HP has smaller HD, less RAM, and Vista Basic as opposed to Premium which the Lenovo has and Gateway from Best Buy.
At Best Buy, I'd go with:
The Gateway MX8711 Notebook
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2060
Microsoft Windows Vista Premium
Built in 802.11g wireless LAN
Reads & Writes dual layer DVDs & CDs
1 GB DDR2
100 GB HD
$699.99
If you want something comparable to the HP at CC, I'd go with the:
Toshiba Pavilion Notebook
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2060
Microsoft Windows Vista Basic
Built in 802.11g wireless LAN
Burns & Plays DVDs & CDs
512 MB DDR2
80 GB HD
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics
Model A135-S2276
$599.99
All of these are Dual Core Processors, the Gateway has the largest screen at 17" UltraBright widescreen. The other screen sizes are at 15+"
Check them out and see what you like.

Thanks for the prices on the laptops, Speedy! I will probably be asking, again, when you post the next ads for Best Buy and Circuit City. Not only am I looking for a laptop, but, my Mom called me up, and wants me to be on the lookout for a laptop that she can use at home and work! So, I'll be buying two in the near future. Your information is always appreciated!

Very good deals today
I went to BB based on the ad for today. I got some pretty good deals:
Audition Uncut S.E. (4.99)
Braveheart (4.99)
Crash (4.99)
Saw (I) 2-Disc Uncut (4.99)
Se7en (New Line Platinum Series, Two-Disc Edition) (19.99)
Philadelphia 2-Disc Anniversary Edition (this was free with the purchase of Se7en).
All told it was about $40.00 for the 6 DVD's! (I had about $2.00 left on a gift card).
Got there about 5 minutes after the store opened (Michigan) and there was a line up for the laptop and desktop specials!

Thanks, again, for the information, Speedy. I checked the ad, online this morning, and saw one on the front page, that is part of the 2-Day President's Day Specials.
It is the Hewlett-Packard Special Edition Notebook with AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 - Silver-on-Ceramic White, Model: dv6233se
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1168043627581
It has:
*Windows Vista Home Premium
*15.4" WXGA high-definition widescreen display with BrightView technology and 1280 x 800 resolution
*120GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
*AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL-50* for AMD dual-core technology in a thin-and-light design; HyperTransport™ and AMD PowerNow!™ technologies and improved security with Enhanced Virus Protection**
*1GB DDR2 memory for multitasking power
*Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible media
*Many other additional features!
It is normally $899.99, but, is on sale for $699.99.
So, I picked up two of those. One for me, and one for my Mom. I also bought two of the Logitech VX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse for them. I had to leave them at the Geek Squad to have backup discs made for them (when did they stop giving backup discs with computers?), so, I won't be able to pick them up until tomorrow! I'm excited to get them!
