B&N B1G1 free on TV Boxsets (1/3/07-1/30/07)

from 1/3-1/30/2007, Barnes & Noble will be running a Buy 1, Get 1 Free sale on TV boxsets that have at least 2 discs and are $29.99 or higher. this is supposed to include every TV-on-DVD boxset in the stores, as well as a few select titles on their website. the sale may include some movie boxsets as well, but those titles are unknown at this time.

much like the annual Buy 3, Get the 4th Free sale at Borders, this sale is not as exciting as it could be due to B&N pricing all their DVDs at MSRP (although most B&N stores do have a 10% discount on boxsets every day). nevertheless, there are certain titles out there that never seem to go on sale so this may be the best time to jump on them.

When you get upto 3-5 discs per boxset B1G1 isn't to shabby! The other day I noticed B&N online has a code when paying with any MasterCard, you get $10 off $40 or more spent. Does anyone know if the coupon code has worked in a B&M?

odisn 01-02-07 01:59 PM

I forgot all about that MC coupon. Plus for those of you that have B&N Memberships, that's another 10% off.

here's the in store coupon: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/thiswe....asp?PID=14262

i think it'll work as long as the total before taxes is at least $40.

The sale seems to already be running. I put Scrubs - Season 2 and 3 in my Cart and it's showing up as Buy 1 Get 1 free. Not bad, both sets for only $27.98 total. :)

starman9000 01-02-07 02:59 PM

It's up and running, but you can't tell what works until you put it in the cart. Mystery Science Theater and the old Battlestar Galactica don't work. Star Trek and Andromeda do. Not sure if it is a studio thing or what.

DisneyDVDFAN 01-02-07 03:00 PM

Lost season 1 & 2 works ;)
but james bond doesn't

Jim 01-02-07 03:01 PM

Sale looks like it's working for me too. The free TV set can be priced less than $29.99. HBO sets that I tried (Band of Brothers, From The Earth to the Moon) didn't work. This can work out pretty good if you use the AAA and Mastercard discounts.

dadaluholla 01-02-07 03:04 PM

Wow, you can get the complete Buffy Chosen collection free when you buy the complete Alias series set. I think this is the link to the sale:

I'm interested to see what you guys come up with... I tried 2 Buffy's together, and that works as well. Could always Ebay the 2nd one...

masbrad 01-02-07 03:14 PM

yeah Buffy and Alias is a great deal. I tried to get Twilight zone and Superman collection both did not work.

I already have Buffy or I would have jumped all over this.

Anyone have any other big set ideas to match with Alias?

dcprules 01-02-07 03:14 PM

Wow, this is a pretty great sale. I might have to become a b&N member to save a bit more. How much is membership?

Jim 01-02-07 03:16 PM

It looks like you can only get one free set per order from what I'm seeing in my cart.

Agreed. I already have Buffy, and would love to get a nice set to match.

Damn, should have pulled the trigger immediatly. Now it's up to $39.98 each.

smashthesymbols 01-02-07 03:53 PM

Are there any good deals to be had with this? I tried a couple complete series sets I might want (Twilight Zone, Kids In The Hall) and neither worked. All the regular sets the prices aren't that good, and the few I can think of that never go on sale won't work (The Job, Ducktales).

Paul_Nyman 01-02-07 03:53 PM

The sales date is January 3rd (tomorrow) till end of the month, so I wonder if the prices online are going wacky till tomorrow?

FeelingGreat 01-02-07 04:01 PM

their prices are so high that it seems to not be worth it.

I got sex and the city at best buy on december 24 for$100 before tax and shipping. The shipping was $1.79

bradm20 01-02-07 04:02 PM

If you are a B&N Club Member will you get the 10% off on top of the BOGO deal? I was considering joining for this deal.

JohnSlider 01-02-07 04:16 PM

Does Anyone here Have A B&N Membership?
