$5 a pop, a huge selection, with nationwide availability for in-store pickup, is one of the few ocassions I shop from bestbuy. Any standout gems that you guys would consider Highly Recommended among the 200+ titles on sale?

Here's a few I'd say are good blind buys for those who haven't seen 'em.

Serpico
Juice
Private Parts
Changing Lanes
The Golden Child
Hardball
Galaxy Quest
Talented Mr. Ripley
Primal Fear

After shipping and tax, it comes out to over $9 a movie - DDD is cheaper (at least with the movies I selected).

My thoughts exactly. Best Buy's shipping costs make most of their deals of no value to me. In-store pickup, you say? I shop on the internet so I don't have to trek to a store.

Agreed. If you can take advantage of in-store pickup, it's fine. If not, $7.16 for standard ground is too much compared to other options.

And that standard shipping is very slow. I had two orders online with them during their McDonalds Best Buy Buck promotion in October using standard shipping. One took 11 days and one took 13 days - and I live only 200 miles away from the warehouse from where they were shipped. They give it to UPS who then gives it to USPS for actual delivery. The problem is with USPS, they literally sat on it for days at a time before passing it on to the next stage. It's bulk mail to them, the lowest priority.

Plus, I don't like how Best Buy handles the cost of shipping - it's cumulative for each item. Order one DVD it might be $1.50, order two it's $3, three is $4.50 etc etc. Certainly doesn't encourage me to order more at one time. Newegg.com does the same thing.

not really a great deal at all. Shipping too expensive. Best Buy can keep their DVD.

I checked on 10 titles I would have ordered and none were available for in-store pickedup in my metro area, so none ordered. With BB's shipping cost, I could pick them up at DDD cheaper.

I'm glad I read this entire thread before ordering. The shipping costs certainly do negate the value of this one.

There is some good movies in there but for those that can be patient I think you will find better deals.

At DDD twice last year they had most of those titles on B1G1 free deals. So I got A LOT of those for about 3.00 a DVD with as others have pointed out no shipping and no taxes. the first sale was in Feb and then they had one in October.
