True Python fans are completists and there are some special features on those personal best DVDs that can not be found on the boxset. Also if you have one or more favorites amongst the Python members it is nice to have what they themselves consider their best work collected on one DVD.

I keep waiting for the Jeeves and Wooster megaset and/or the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes sets to drop. Still waiting...

If you can go multi-region, Jeeves and Wooster is selling for GBP17.99, which comes to about $32 after VAT removal, at amazon.co.uk. The complete Brett Holmes in one set (in the US it's in five sets) is about $75.

Thanks for the tip Chris-K, I really should graduate to some more sophisticated equipment but I just can't seem to get motivated to do it. I know there will be a learning curve, which is bad enough but not enough to stop me, it's the wasted money that goes along with it. I already know that I like the Sherlock stuff from the repeats aired on Biography but can anyone comment on Jeeves? I've enjoyed Hugh Laurie in the few things I've seen him in, but it's basically a blind buy. Haven't read any of the books so I'm hoping that his role will carry it for me. MI-5, House, 101 Dalmations and a minor appearance on Friends were all positives in my book so I think I'll like it.

You'll probabaly have a different opinion than I, but I disliked the Jeeves and Wooster episodes that I viewed. I'm a big Wodehouse fan and have read all the stories and books, and I didn't think they captured the feel of the printed works. I have a couple of friends who watched the shows w/o having read any Wodehouse and they loved them though.

I've found that to be the case with any filmed adaptation of something I've read so luckily, I think, I haven't read the books. It's much better to see the show, then go back and read the book in my opinion. For instance, I had a great time doing that with the MASH show/books. I would venture a guess that I would have hated the t.v. show if I had read the books first.

I have the entire Jeeves and Wooster set. I got it last year during the fall sale at DDD I believe. Anyway, I have only seen the first season of the set. Well, it is ok I guess. Funny in a sort of low key way. But maybe you will find it more funny.

Anyway, love the period costumes of the Edwardian period and the scenery in the show is beautiful. It seems like all the British aristocracy do is have lavish parties, play golf, and go hunting.

Well, I haven't got it yet so who knows if I'll ever enjoy it. LOL. Thanks though, I'm going to give it a shot when the right deal comes along. Costco had it recently as part of their $20 off instanst rebate but that was only a couple bucks cheaper than DDD's normal price so the savings wasn't worth the money I couldn't afford to spend at the time.

As far as the Neverwhere blind buy, I think you'll enjoy it. It took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I couldn't wait for the next chapter/episode. One of the hardest things for me to get used to on that set was the video quality itself. Not that it was bad but there's something about some British stuff that looks odd. Maybe they don't use the same filters on their lenses or something. It didn't look low-budget but it did look like video as opposed to film.
