The general feeling in the "Official Anime Bargains Thread" is to order it now. If the price goes back up to $27.21, then the discounted price would be $21.76($4.01 more than the current price). Of course, if the price stays at $17.75 come Tuesday, then you'd be out an additional $3.55 by not waiting. I preordered my copy last night and it has already shipped.

No, its inaccurate. If you move it to your cart, you will see a message saying something along the lines of "we will ship this to you when it is available", meaning it is on backorder or not in stock.

I have a question of my own. I made an order, and under order status, all of the dvds I ordered were listed as cancelled, but have an estimated shipping date of 11/13? I called the hotline, and was told that it was because I didn't have a phone number listed under account info, but I double checked and I do have my correct phone number listed. They just suggested I re-do the entire order. Do I just make another order?

For those of you jumping all over the utterly amazing deal on the utterly amazing World At War set: I highly recommend the American Experience Series Vietnam: A Television History that originally aired in 1983. For some reason they edited down to 11 hours for the dvd release, but it remains essential viewing nonetheless. And it's only $38.28 after the discount.

Anyone considering the Janus set should be aware of the following, taken from the NY Times review of the set:

Packaged in a brown fabric binder, the set includes an album of 50 DVDs drawn from the holdings of Janus Films, the distinguished distribution company founded in 1956, as well as a 240-page book of notes, credits and stills on all 50 titles.
....... the discs in this collection don't include the commentaries and other supplementary materials that give the Criterion discs their extra value.


The transfers are the same as the individual Criterion editions, and at less than $10 a title, it's still worth considering, but don't think you're getting the actual Criterion releases in this package.

The exact same thing happened to me. However, DDD happily exchanged it for me after a much longer period. It's not too late if the discs are wrong.
