Gamestop B2G1 10.20-10.29

This was posted over at CAG (at work and can't confirm until tomorrow), but it looks like the B2G1 sale is on at GameStop until the 29th! People have posted that they have already gotten it, so it looks like its really on this time.

MovieExchange 10-20-06 10:42 AM

It's confirmed. The 3rd key at my local EB just called me and said it was running for the dates you listed.

wennma01 10-20-06 12:19 PM

is there any price restriction on this or are all dvds b2g1?

dvd182 10-20-06 12:35 PM

All used dvds are b2g1, with the cheapest being the free title. Mine had Deadwood season 2 in great condition, so I was pretty happy.

Al Padrino 10-20-06 12:37 PM

Hell yes. Mine has both seasons of Deadwood, which were reduced in price the last time I was in there. I'd better head over there soon.

MovieExchange 10-20-06 12:43 PM

Just called and asked how the B2G1F deal works with their new 3 $5.99 DVD's for $10 / 3 $9.99 DVD's for $20 / 3 $12.99 DVD's for $30 deal.

It was explained like this - take the 3 for $10. You'd normally pay $3.33 per, so now you're paying $3.33 for 2 of them and getting the 3rd $5.99 movie for free. So it would work out to something like this (before discount if you have the 10% card):

3 $5.99 DVD's for $6.66
3 $9.99 DVD's for $13.32
3 $12.99 DVD's for $20.00

Al Padrino 10-20-06 12:49 PM

Wow, so this works out to be an even better deal than in the past, correct?

Kocheese99 10-20-06 01:08 PM

Oh hell yes! Somebody's going shopping this week!

It was YMMV before. The last time, most stores/employees did it the cheaper way. The time before that, only a few did it that way (although I didnt visit that many stores that time), though a few that didnt know I "taught how to do it".

bwsmom 10-20-06 01:32 PM

Dumb question of the week: So this is confirmed for EBGames, too?

excom101 10-20-06 01:47 PM

Anybody know whether they can look me up in their computers if I don't have my discount/membership card on me? I'd like to stop in a couple stores on my way home from work tonight...

The employee I talked to about how it was figured said the explanation was in the notification e-mail. So I'd say that if anyone encounters a store that gives them a problem about it, ask them to check their notification e-mail.

Yes. It was an EB employee that called and told me of the sale.

No, they can't. You can, however, ask them to hold your purchases until you come pick them up the next day. Most of the time they'll do that, although some stores can be dicks and refuse. YMMV, depending heavily upon how regular of a customer you are.

BravesMG 10-20-06 02:35 PM

Awesome, thanks for the post. Picked up Godfather, Star Wars Legos: Original Trilogy, and Hitman: Blood Money for $94 with the Edge card. I'll happily trade any of them in if NBA 2k7, NHL 2k7, NHL 07, Tiger Woods 07, or Splinter Cell: DA come in before my 7 day trade policy is up.

needlz 10-20-06 11:35 PM

I found a copy of "Jarhead: 2 Disc Collector's Edition" at one of the local Gamestops today. The packaging and discs were in mint condition . . . great find!!!

Al Padrino 10-21-06 12:24 PM

I felt like a dumbass in my GS today. In the past, the signs for the sale had always been on the racks of DVDs themselves. On top of that, the employees would always remind you of the sale. Neither was the case today, so I was content to take my three titles from the 3-for-$10 bin and call it a day.

They rang up for the sale and I asked if they were doing the sale, to which they said they were. I mentioned I wasn't sure since I hadn't seen any signs. The clerk with his great people skills replied with, "You didn't see any of the signs?!" I said nope and then he pointed to the ceiling where no less than 390 B2G1 Free signs were hanging. I guess I'll have to start looking up in GS from now on.

At any rate, I got some titles I had been after:

- 61*
- Cactus Jack: The Early Years
- Superstar Billy Graham: 20 Years Too Soon

The last is the obvious winner, even without the deal. I took a chance on the CJ one, even though I'm not expecting much. At any rate, around $2 per title is a nice steal.

I'll probably drop in at least once more during the week. They have some nice Disney titles and boxsets that would be well utilized for this sale. As any aside, it's a shame I'm not into South Park to where I want to own all of the episodes. The first six or seven seasons are at my GS.

jessecrx 10-21-06 03:23 PM

I got a very nice score today! I got the 10% off with my EB Card.

Deadwood Season 1 FREE!
Deadwood Season 2 $31.49
ROME Season 1 $44.99

Sopranos Season 1 $22.49
Sopranos Season 2 $22.49
Beavis and Butthead(Mike Judge Col Vol2) FREE!
plus Tax

TOTAL
$131.XX

All of the sets are practically NEW!

Al Padrino 10-21-06 04:41 PM

I think we can all agree that regardless of what our respective GS has, there are at least two season sets of The Sopranos.

So were all the ones I bought. There is a Best Buy across the highway from two of the stores I bought stuff from and I would be willing to bet these sets all came directly from there.

wennma01 10-21-06 05:02 PM

i already have all the hbo sets i wanted (rome, deadwood, etc)...but heres what i got today:

Fear and loathing in Las Vegas: criterion: 12.99
Tru calling season 2: 12:99
Lion King: Platinum edition: 0.00

MovieExchange 10-21-06 05:41 PM

Store 1:
2 copies of The Boondocks season 1 @ $29.99 each
Nip/Tuck season 3 for free

Store 2:
2 copies of Battlestar: Galactica season1 (w/ mini series) @ $24.99 each
Charmed season 4 for free

At store #2 I wanted to beat my friend over the head. He found a $5.99 DVD he wanted and didn't want to look for another 2, citing money problems. I kept trying to explain that instead of buying one movie for $5.39, he could get 3 for about $6, and he just wouldn't listen. If I hadn't felt like total crap and just wanted to get out of there, I would have looked for 2 movies.

Kocheese99 10-21-06 05:45 PM

Here's my score:

Big Love S:1 $39.99
Ultimate Jordan $12.99
Mick Foley Greatest Hits & Misses: Free

Factor in the 10% off card and it came to less than $50. One of the stores i went to said the sale ends tomorrow, i hope not because i plan on going by next weekend too.
