I usually buy the MST3K sets in the sale, with the 20% off it is one of the best deals around on those sets, however, can anyone find volume 10(the most recent) on the website? I'm pretty sure it's not OOP, it is readily available from every other retailer....

Check the DVDTalk main board. Vol. 10 did apperantly go OOP recently. It's likely due to Godzilla.

Are boxed sets included? My 14-yr. old niece wants the Lord of the Rings trilogy and with the big sale, I could afford to buy it for her for Christmas.

If they still have the "Gift sets" go for that. During the last sale they were only about 12 bucks a piece!!!!!!!!

Is there any official confirmation on this, or is this just a one time mistake?

Is it just me or did the coupon entry code disappear on the DDD site? I thought it was on the main cart page.

(the DVDPlanet site also appears to be down at the moment)

Best Buy is out of the Fellowship of the Ring set as well. Amazon still has it, and at $22.09 it's not that hard to find one more item to quallify for the free shipping.

Thanks for the heads up...snagged one at the Best Buy in South Bay with weekend 10% off coupon. Btw, that same thread says that Volume 1 and 3 are also likely to go OOP soon, DDD still has volume 3 in stock, so sale might be a good chance to pick it up if you haven't gotten it yet.

I noticed all the current promotions end on 11/9. I would speculate 11/10 could start the 20 off sale? 11/10 is also a Friday, I believe all previous sales started on a Friday. Just a hunch.

Previous sales have begun on Thursday nights IIRC.

It might start this week, but it seems a bit early, strategically. I know the Halloween decorations are down now but are people really in a Christmas buying mode yet? I don't think Hanukkah comes early this year or anything. Getting it a little closer to Black Friday seems more logical, but maybe I just want the Superman set to be covered.

I was going to say they start on Friday, but looking back at my purchase history for last Summer's sale, I see you're right - it started on Thursday June 8th. Last year's Fall sale started on either November 10th (a Thursday) or the 11th (Friday).

Of course let's all remember that there's never a guarantee that there will be a sale.

And while I wish it would happen, I highly doubt that they'd wait for the end of the month and give us a crack at the Superman tin set.

Ayep. Volume 1 is already OOP, and Volume 3 is going OOP in March.

My memory of the last summer sale is that someone here tried a coupon code on Thursday afternoon, found it worked, and announced the sale was on. Then a DDD representative popped in later that evening to make the official announcement.

With last November's sale, I remember an ad for it popped up on some site a few days in advance, listing a Friday start date. Then some people tried using codes on Thursday nights and they worked.

So I'm thinking the sales officially begin on Fridays, but the site admins will sometimes activate the codes early so they can knock off for the day.

aye, it was i. and everyone screamed CANCELLED ORDER except DDD.
shouldn't everyone step back, take a deep breath, check your bank account, get your cart ready and stop speculating publicly and be ready? we're not stooopid here on the forum, are we?
and please show some respect for DDDdave (or whoever) once the craziness begins. they go out of their way to work with this forum, so let's not screw it up and have fun with the sale if it happens.
ja ja?

I've usually had a pretty good success rate with slip covers from DDD, so hopefully your little one can get her 'The Little Mermaid' with one.

If you've never taken part in one of these sales...be prepared!!

This particular forum will get pretty crazy around that time, but it's also prtty handy for recommending some titles you might not know about.

They're not always in the best condition though.

I ordered about ten Disney titles during the last sale, sadly most came without slip covers. : ( I like those slip covers too.
