Finally scored a Dog Day Afternoon tonight a few minutes before closing time. I bought $14 worth of other crap too. Came home and there's a 20% off coupon in my inbox. D'Oh!! I might go back tomorrow and load up on more stuff.

Modesto, CA
Took my BuzzClub coupon in on Monday and found some WB titles in the DVDs I hadn't seen before. Marked at $4 each I picked up:
All the President's Men The Killing Fields Bronco Billy King Kong (original) single-disc no-frills version With the coupon these cost me $3.20 each. :toast: I also saw a WS version of The In-Laws (2002), but I already own that one. |
Used the coupon and picked up "Bram Stoker's Dracula's Curse" and "Legion Of The Dead". Both could be stinkers. But I got them cheap and they're special editions.

Picked up St. John's Wort, an Asian horror flick on the Timeless/Asylum label for $3.20 with the coupon (along with some of the Columbia/TriStar closeouts I needed). St. John's Wort is widescreen but unfortunately it is an English-dubbed version, only (and very badly dubbed at that).

Went to the Coon Rapids BL this morning and they'd restocked a lot of the $2 Columbia/Tri-Star titles. I used the 20% off coupon and picked up these for $1.60 each:
Baadasssss! Beijing Bicycle Brother John Happy Times How To Make a Monster Joe and Max Man Without a Past Mifune Mystic Masseur Raising Victor Vargas SE Read My Lips Red Dwarf Sea Is Watching Secret Ballot Most of the above were re-buys since I'd sold previous copies. This store also had a really broad selection of Mill Creek's "20 Movie Pack" releases and PD television like "Ozzie & Harriet", "Best of Bonanza", "Beverly Hillbillies" etc. I was especially surprised to see the new MC "Best of TV Westerns" 57 episode box. These were all $6 before applying the coupon. |
Stopped in early this afternoon and picked up 17 titles all at $1.69 each after tax from two different Big Lots locations.

The $6 collections rarely show up, and never last long. I always pass on them in order to read reviews, and end up missing my chance. |
While passing through Birmingham Alabama I discovered that Big Lots at 120 Green Springs Highway has about 10-15 copies of the boxed set "1st & Ten". As mentioned before, they're $6. Not bad for approx 40 hours of decent material.

The Dollar General stores in our area have also gotten in a small shipment of the Columbia/TriStar closeouts, priced at $3.00 each (as opposed to the $2.00 price which Big Lots is selling most of them for).
I saw many of the same ones which we've seen before, but there were three Columbia/TriStar titles which I didn't remember seeing before at Big Lots: Loving (1970 - George Segal, Eva Marie Saint, Sterling Hayden) Mac (1992 - John Turturro, Ellen Barkin, Michael Badalucco) The Velocity Of Gary (1998 - Vincent D'Onofrio, Thomas Jane, Salma Hayek, Olivia d'Abo) I finally managed to find a copy of Dark Blue World for $3.00 at Dollar General, which I had looked for unsuccessfully for months and had given up hope of ever finding at a Big Lots in our area. |

Anyone seen copies of Panda-Z: The Robonimation v2 and v3, by any chance?
|
a great campy b-movie to pick up in the Columbia/TriStar closeouts is "Guilty As Charged"
it stars Rod Steiger as a vigilante who constructs his own electric chair to fry violent criminals who have slipped through the judicial system. Also stars Issac Hayes as Steiger's assistant. Plenty of good twisted humor. Fans of the show "Dexter" should love this one. |
I just picked up 22 Sony titles for $1.60 each... Many not included on the above list, but sorry if I posted any duplicates...
Double Vision Broken Wings Once a Thief Innocence Borderline Quitting Bon Voyage Circus My Wife is an Actress Sea is watching What to do is case of fire Zhou Yu's Fire Subway Secret Lives of Dentists Snakes on a Train (not Sony, but I got it for 2 bucks anyway--should have been $4 but she scanned a different DVD instead) |

Broken Wings Secret Lives of Dentists |
My Biglots also restocked the $2.00 Sony/Columbia/Tristar DVDs. This batch was kinda small in terms of the number of DVDs stocked, but this is what I saw...
Peep Show Secret Lives of Dentists Beijing Bicycle What to do in case of Fire Joe and Max Circus Virtual Sexuality They had more titles, but this was all I could remember... |
