there was some shithole furniture store by me that was always in the process of having a "going out of business" sale. this went on for YEARS. i think they finally moved to a new location where they do it all over again.
Look closely at the sign. It probably said "Going out FOR business sale". My teacher told us that this is a commonly used sales tactic. I didn't believe her. Then one day I was driving, and I saw a sign that, at first glance, I 100 percent believed said "Going out of business". Then I stared at it, and yep...GOING OUT FOR BUSINESS.

I think we normally don't catch it because our eyes know it will say 'Going out of business', so it fills it in for us before we actually read it all.

Borders is a great store. And they have weekly coupons.

Didn't mean to be negative, but I've never found the coupon deals at Borders to be very enticing. In most cases, I've either found competitive pricing at a local CC or BB. It doesn't help that the nearest Borders to me is several miles away. I agree they have always had a great selection of titles, but I never seem to buy from there.

I don't think I've ever been in a Borders or B&N that had anything even close to the selection that Tower has. (had?) Virgin and Amoeba have the selection, if you have one near you.

You're joking, right?

Try a local independent record store. Specifically one that specializes in your taste in music. If you don't live around one, you can get whatever you most likely want through Amazon.

Went to Tower last night. 30% off CDs. I actually did pick up 4 CDs and after the discount, they were priced about what they should have been in the first place.

Tower also had cool movie and music collectibles like Superhero action figures, McFarlane figures, and other stuff. I wonder what the deal is on those. I got my huge Eddie (Iron Maiden) doll from Tower years ago after it was discounted and I remember the one by me had som e Cool Predator statues.

Best Buy and Circuit City have a poor selection of cds compared to Borders. And Borders has more foreign and Criterions titles. BB and CC are good for mainstream titles but Borders' selection blows them out of the water.

Borders has as many Criterion titles as Tower and they have coupons. Virgin is a huge joke.

Well Criterions aren't everything. Virgin has 10x the selection of music that any Borders has. Their prices suck though.

I found the Criterion "Notorious" DVD. At 30% off, I picked it up for $30. That was the only decent deal I could find.

Yeah, I was going to pick up South Park season 8, but the list was $45.99. 30% off that isn't even what Best Buy is selling it for currently!

The only good things I have found from this sale are certain Criterions I've been wanting for awhile.

So anybody see any further reductions? Stocks are getting low here in Hawaii, but of the stuff they do have, they have in abundance. I gotta believe we're close to the end.

With the DDD 20% Off Sale going on right now, Tower's crappy 30% Off MSRP discount looks about as good as Rosie O'Donell in a g-string.

Music DVDs are 45% off with coupon, that beats out DDD easily. Not to mention you won't get third party credit card solicitations and other such crap from shopping at Tower. DDD can bite the big one.

In the Tower in Davis, CA they've raised the DVDs to 30% off and the CDs are temporarily 40% off. Add the extra 5% off coupon and you have something decent.
