Just checked the tracking #, and it now says "Your package is in the UPS system and has a rescheduled delivery date of 12/04/2006."

The reason for this is also stated - "AN INCORRECT ROUTING AT A UPS FACILITY CAUSED THIS DELAY;THE PACKAGE WAS MISSORTED AT THE HUB. IT HAS BEEN REROUTED TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION SITE".

Guess I'm waiting until Monday.

Good old UPS, they could screw up a wet dream. I had a order the other day that was left at the UPS facility causing this delay, what the hell do these workers do there? I love the tracking system they use but sometimes the delays are ridiculous...

Mine got to me yesterday. Luckily they have a good tracking system at UPS because when they first tried to deliver it on Wednesday (when I was home all day) they put down that I moved (I only had a car in the driveway, the curtains open, garbage cans out front since it was trash day, etc--I'm sure it looked totally abandoned).

Anyway I have it now and it is in perfect condition.

Got a shipping notice from DVDPlanet. I pre-ordered with them, and yet they still showed the item as OOS on the website (I don't know if it ever was in stock on the website). I was hoping this means they were holding for the corrected versions, but I doubt it now.

The replacement number's hold program kinda sucks. Itll ring for a second, then say "Please hold", another mini ring and then music. Rinse and repeat. It's like they like to taunt you into thinking you are about to finally talk to someone.

Just curious to get people's take on this:

Do you think the price of the set will go up in the months to come?

I can't decided if I should buy it now and deal with the incorrect disc thing, or wait a couple of months so I get a set with the proper discs.

I don't mind waiting, but I'm worried the price will be 100 bucks or something when the corrected sets are finally available in stores.

Thoughts?

I would imagine that, since the first weeks sales price applies for this week, when the corrected sets make it to stores, they will be charging the regular retail price. On the sticker from the set that I picked up at Best Buy, the regular price was $79.99. I would say pick the set up now, and call the toll-free # for the disc replacement program. That way, you will save a few bucks.

I'd definitely buy it now if you can find a cheaper price. The few times I've used a disk replacement program it's worked out well. And while i want the right disk, it's not like the disks are totally ruined.
Then again, if you wait long enough the price will drop again--unless it goes OOS.

Well I found it at Costco and picked it up for 63 bucks.

Tin in good shape, no missing discs, no smudges or fingerprints, etc.

Of course Superman III is incorrect and all that, but at least I didn't have any of those other problems some people are reporting.

Man this is a beautiful set.

I just hope I actually watch it.

I put it on the shelf next to all the other box sets I never watch, such as the Alien Quadrilogy and the Planet of the Apes box set, etc.

Still, nice to own them even if I never get around to watching them.

Looks damn fine on the shelf.

It could go either way. With all the bad press on the incorrect discs, I can see them either dropping the prices to move the sets or just discontinuing them to cut their losses. I'm banking that they'll cut the price. If not, I'll just buy some of the titles individually.

Already had mine from B&N deal a few days ago but I did pick up the M*A*S*H box for 120.99 after the instant savings deal

I saw MASH there too and was very tempted to pick it up.

But after springing for superman and that sex and the city box set (for my woman pal, i personally hate the show) I figured I'd give my wallet a rest.

120 is a great price though.

Just called Barnes and Noble since my order was given the 12/28 ship date. Apparently they delayed the shipping due to the disc error BUT they seem to have them now in the warehouse. They sent a note for my order to see if they could release them to ship. Hopefully I will be getting it before the 28th.

Hope this helps.

My B&N order was also held back initially, assumedly for the sets with the proper discs. It now shows as having shipped on 12/2 with a delivery date of 12/5 in Mass. Will report back if the set arrives and what's inside!

That really is a great MASH set, I got it at the DDD 20% off sale for $111 and it is really nice, especially for that price.

I followed your lead and did this as well. She confirmed it is in stock, so is emailing the warehouse. Hopefully they check their email better than buy.com (where you can request cancellation of an order that won't ship for 3 days, but they never cancel it)

Yeah, B&N just emailed me with the following:

Your order is now packed and ready to leave our warehouse.
And in my order status page it confirms that it shipped earlier today, and it gives me a tracking number.

Mine's on the way from BN.Com (ordered it back when it was $49).

Tried to order from buy.com, but their $20 google checkout wasnt working for this title.
