Since I'm also waiting for my B&N order (hopefully sooner than the expected 12/28/06 date on their emails), I'm hoping the set will have the correct discs included when the new stock comes in. For the great price I got from B&N, I've got no issues with waiting a few more weeks.
Amazon shows out of stock until 12/07/06.
DDD shows out of stock (no date provided).

Well just got off the phone the CSR took the info and said that was it ... prepaid label within 1-2 weeks and return disc 1 & 8 and they will send out the new discs as soon as they recieve the discs ... prepare to be on hold and maybe disconnected once or twice before actually speaking to someone ( THE CSR said they were very busy today )
that's that now to mail in for the posters ;0)
My last disc Bryan Singer was also loose in the case ... but that is fine i think have to watch it to see if anything is wrong with it...

I'd say that's pretty cool. The whole set is boxed in a tin, and inside the tin there is a cool linticular slip cover surrounding the entire set. I checked Superman 3. By all outside appearances, it looks like the new disc, not the old one. It seems to have new cover art and says "DELUXE EDITION" on the disc. However, it is the old version with just a trailer. The last disc in the set, The Bryan Singer Journals, was loose and slightly scratched, but nothing too serious.
Thanks to that 800 number, I'll just have the discs replaced. No worries.

I don't know if anyone said this, but today I called the BBsin my area and they said that they were recalled because of the mishap and they would be getting the revamped versions w/ teh correct discs hopefully by next week but definitely before Christmas. Hope this helps anyone who could not find it anywhere like me. All my stores were looking like crazy for them until tehy got the news.

Also, the last 3 discs in the set have the 'warpy' look on the disc - if you know what i mean. Does that mean there will be problems playing the discs?

I just got my copy from Amazon that I forgot to cancel in time. Some idiot decided to ship it in a bubble mailer. Of course, now there is a giant dent in the top. This is definetly going back.

Mine came earlier today in great shape... Great set even with the bad disc. Already requested a pre-paid envelope so hopefully sometime in January I'll get the proper discs.

I just got off the phone with a rep from the toll-free #. They took my information, which included name, address, telephone #, catalog #, and place of purchase. They state that I will receive the postage paid envelope in 7-10 days. After mailing it back, they said I should receive the corrected discs in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully that's all it will take. Other than the issue with those two discs, I'm pretty pleased with this set. I haven't got to watch much. I will say that the transfer for Superman Returns could have been MUCH better. It should have been, considering that it was filmed using a digital film. It looks grainy in areas, the black levels aren't as good as they should be, and some dark areas have a "pixel" like appearance. I don't know why the transfer on this wasn't top notch?!
Anyway, all in all, I'm pleased. I can't wait to really dive into the whole thing, which is going to take quite some time! Luckily, I don't have to work, tomorrow, so I should get into it pretty well.
I also mailed off for the 5 free posters, yesterday. I can't wait to get those!

My order status at B&N now reads - "Order Is Packing - No Changes".
And it shows the tracking number!!
Weird considering a day or 2 ago, the shipping date was December 28th.
Also, it's now showing up as in stock

Mine says
This part of your order is expected to ship on December 28, 2006
and I ordered
November 26, 2006, 11:07 PM EST.
The 52.41 I'll be charged is much better than the 90+ they want now.

Just checked tracking on UPS.com, and it says that the package is scheduled to be delivered today. Pretty fast.
I'm a little surprised, because I would have thought that others would ship as well - but I have to realize that not just dvdtalkers ordered the set from B&N!
