Then it is not a $44.88 copy.

My order from B&N hit my stairs a few minutes ago. That was damn fast!

So I carefully shook a couple of tins last night and each of them had something rattling (from top to bottom) in them. It could have been a disc, but I wasn't sure. Anyone do this and can verify if it is indeed a disc or perhaps one of the extras the Ultimate Edition comes with?

Anyone know how limited these sets are? Maybe I should just order from buy.com and give up on B&N. The price difference is under $5...

Um, no they aren't! I know it says ON ORDER, but I was able to use Google checkout anyway! $49.98 SHIPPED!!! WOOHOO!!! That's less than $2 more than B&N, so I'm happy. Obviously, there is no guarantee it will ship. But now I have 2 chances. I'll keep both orders open until I get one of them...

Personally I would say if you have the chance to buy the set GET IT! At this point don't worry about saving a few bucks, it appears there is a big shortage on the amount of sets available, especially at the B&M stores. If you truly want to own this special set DON'T HESITATE!

I went ahead and picked mine up at Costco. Didn't feel like waiting around for it. A gave a few of 'em a shake and of the three I picked up two seemed to have a disc loose in the package.

Well, it's not like the set is a limited edition. They're not going to run out of them permanently. If you absolutely must have the set within the next week or so, then grab it - but I wouldn't go out of my way to get one otherwise. For all we know, in a few weeks they might even be shipping corrected versions.

CC was sold out. I went by Target and they had 4 copies. Seems like they may be the best b&m to check for this set.

Hi,
It is a floater, the last disc does not sit to well in the case..I had one but
there was no damage to the disc..other than that there is nothing else to rattle around..

Did they have a lot of copies?

I'm debating whether or not I should go to Costco at lunch and try and grab it. It's kind of far but it'd be worth it if they have it. Not that we go to the same costco, bust I'm just sort of trying to get a general idea of how many costco puts out, on average.

Per the digital bits:

Call 800-553-6937 to register to get your replacement discs.

Bonus content was omitted from the Superman III Deluxe Edition in the 14-disc Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition. Furthermore, disc one of Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition did not include the Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. Neither disc is known to be physically defective in any way.

Warner Home Video wants to extend apologies to all of our loyal Superman fans who've waited so patiently for these great collections and has taken immediate steps to correct these errors with the intention of standing behind our product 100%.

Replacement discs can be obtained by calling: 800-553-6937. The exchange program applies only to purchases of the Superman III Deluxe Edition in the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition and to disc one of Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition, available as a single title, as well as in The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection and in the Superman Ultimate
Collector's Edition.

I called and after waiting for quite a while to reach someone I gave them my information only to find out you need to give them the last 5 digits of the bar code from the set. So make sure you have your set in front of you when you call.

The Barnes and Noble retail stores have the set ( at least Lincoln Center in NYC did) but online does not. Price is $90 in store.( 10% off $100)

Man, that poster offer is pretty good: Get 5 FREE 27" x 40" reproductions of original Superman Theatrical posters by mail with $5.80 s&h!

Those are 5 pretty big posters for $1.16 each. Much better than those dinky 11x14 posters they sell at DDD! I'm sending my check out today.

I just sent in one of the proof of purchase tabs from the cardboard wrapper around the tin, that's what they are there for. They only ask for one: "AN original proof-of-purchase tab OR upc from the purchased DVD."

I called about the replacement disc and they said they will send out a prepaid mailer and after you send them the defective disc THEN they will send out a replacement in 2 to 4 WEEKS. (I think that was what she said, anyway.)

I just checked my account, and it says this in my order:

This part of your order is expected to ship on December 28, 2006

I called and asked about it and the CSR told me that the manufactuer contacted them letting them know that there was a mistake with the release of the set, and that they are going to rerelease this set with all of the correct discs included on 12/28/06.

They must have just changed it. Google checkout is no longer available with Ultimate Collection. At least that was the case with my co worker.

Well, I'm pretty pleased overall. I just ordered this set at B&N on Sunday. It was my first order ever with them, and I just got it in the mail via UPS today, the day after it came out. I'd say that's pretty cool. The whole set is boxed in a tin, and inside the tin there is a cool linticular slip cover surrounding the entire set. I checked Superman 3. By all outside appearances, it looks like the new disc, not the old one. It seems to have new cover art and says "DELUXE EDITION" on the disc. However, it is the old version with just a trailer. The last disc in the set, The Bryan Singer Journals, was loose and slightly scratched, but nothing too serious.

Thanks to that 800 number, I'll just have the discs replaced. No worries.
