Wow, I think I'll be hittin' that up. Thanks!
|
Worth a looksie...
FWIW you can get Oldboy through CH as an enrollment. |
Didn't see this at my Wal-Mart today. Hopefully it'll be up the next time I go.

I live in San Diego, CA. There were also some DVD's, that were $4.88 and $3.88 all a bunch of Horror Films.

Didn't see any here in Fresno. Also didn't look like they had any of the cheap MGM horror films out yet like they did last Halloween.
|
Not out yet at my local Pittsburgh WalMart.
I did pick up Shaw Brothers' "Black Magic" there for $12.92, though. |
A no-go so far at the Shelton, CT location. I'll check the Derby location this weekend.:fc:
|
Nothing yet in Kansas City...
|
No sign of these around the Charlotte NC area...hopefully soon!
|
I checked the Sterling Heights, MI store, and they didn't have ANY Tartan titles, except for The Maid, and it was $18.xx.
Has anyone else found these at their Walmart??? |
My fucking Walmarts suck! They never have these setups!
|
I actually did today! I was so excited. There was a display near my DVD area with those other cheap horror tiles mentioned... Here are the ones that were in the display (none had slipcovers if that's important to you)
All the ones the OP mentioned: R-Point Cello The Booth Heirloom Abnormal Beauty Memento Mori Whispering Corridors + Pray Wishing Stairs Acacia Face Phone Doppelganger Koma Marebito Unborn But Forgotten A Tale of Two Sisters (previously reported, not on the display but in the DVD section) I think that's all. There was also one Tartan Video release (not Asia Extreme), but I can't remember the title... I believe it was about some serial killer in the US or something. Dunno. Anyway, quite a good selection! I was very pleased. Just check all your local Wallys - I had went to two before with no luck. I'm really tempted to go back and just buy all the other ones I don't have, but I really shouldn't. |
The display showed up in Shelton, CT. However, there was only 1 Tartan title(Cello).:( It also did not have the usual Tartan outer box. I'll have to check some other locations in hopes of better luck.

SCORE!
The Wal-Fart at the Galleria in Rock Hill, SC had this display up tonight. The non Asia Extreme title is HILLSIDE STRANGLER. I passed on it. I did pick up FIFTEEN (15) titles. Basically, every single one. None of the ones I already own were included in this sale, and some of them might end up being crap, but for the price, it's worth it to me. I did NOT see CELLO, oddly enough. Unless it's in with the other stuff on the racks, as Tale Of Two Sisters is. Koma, Acacia, Doppelganger, Memento Mori, Phone, Wishing Stairs, Whispering Corridors, Heirloom, Booth, Face, Ab-Normal Beauty, R-Point, Marebito, Pray, & Unborn But Forgotten...all on the display, and all purchased. They also had a adjoining display of $3.88 titles...mostly straight-to-DVD titles from the past few years (Genius Products/Wellspring) but I selected the following... INCUBUS (that esperanto Shatner flick) TERROR IS A MAN TERROR OF FRANKENSTEIN HABIT Now I have to lobotomize myself, stop smoking, rob a bank, and then pay a visit to DeepDiscountDVD...I love horror movies WAY too much. |
thedarktroll - Cello was not with the other Tartan titles, but was actually on the bottom of one of the cheaper horror title displays for me, if that makes sense. Like, on the other side of the display. Hope that helps.

SBJ - There were no slipcovers on any of the ones at my Wally, so I'm guessing since you saw them with no slipcovers as well, that Walmart doesn't carry them with slipcovers. I think it's a small price to pay when you're getting them at $9 bucks a pop considering what they cost elsewhere. *shrug*

None of these had slipcovers. I seem to remember reading that the Tartan USA catalog had moved from one distributor or owner or whatever...to another. Used to be TLA, and now it's Genius Products. Other than missing the slipcovers, all of the extras are exactly the same. The good thing is that they're cheaper now than they were, and that's better than a damn stinkin' slipcover!! No offense...I just don't see the point in having a slipcover that has the EXACT same information, pictures, blurbs, and crapola that is on the actual package. Sure, it's nice to look at...but it just seems like a waste of paper.
I was definitely pleased to find Phone and Ab-Normal Beauty...other ones I know I'll be watching first are Wishing Stairs, Whispering Corridors, Memento Mori and Marebito...but I know I've read less than stellar reviews for Doppelganger and Koma and probably a couple of other ones. But this was a very nice display to find at a freakin' WalMart. They do indeed seem to be getting a bit more adventurous in what they're stocking... |
