While percent off coupons can't be applied to magazines, there's nothing noted about this one not applying, so it's certainly possible (and I know previous generalized $ off coupons, like the old kids card which we discontinued were general use $ off).

PS: I dropped you that e-mail.

bwsmom: was your deleted rant about this being suspicious?
cause I keep looking at it and wondering myself, it seems highly unusual--not to doubt anyone here, but no one mentioned sources, so I thought perhaps it was second or third hand tomfoolery.
Still I see your link so I suppose it's good. Weird.
Yes, I deleted my rant about whether or not it was legit. I saw the "coupon" posted this morning on FW, and figured it was a scan of something and wasn't going to bother with it. The thing that really bugged me (other than the format) was the fact that it wasn't coming from Borders' "f.chtah" server, where they keep all their coupons. Right after I posted my rant, however, I went back to FW, and there was a link to the coupon as hosted on the aforementioned server and in a format that looks much more like a regular Borders coupon, so I figure it must be okay. However, since you're an employee there, if you hear otherwise, I do hope you'll let us know!

Thanks for this. I just recently started taking the train again and now I can buy the Watchmen, which I've always wanted.

Believe me I will! heh
I'll check our internal listing of current offers when I go in tomorrow.

If it's on the list I hope they don't look at me too funny when I bring it in

So...just to clarify...i can use this on sale prices? They have 2-disc V for Vendetta on sale for 22.99--12.99 would be a good deal.

I just used it on Ultimate Prince which was on sale for 19.99. To kick it over $20, I bought one of those 40 cent truffles at the front. So I got a $25 sticker price cd for $10. That's alright.

Thanks, OP! The Borders I work at is considered to be in a company test market, so we never get the good coupons anymore. This one, along with the two other 30% coupons and a personal shopper day are going to make it much easier to spend the $70 in merch cards I have at the moment.

$ off coupons generally work regardless of sale price, since it doesn't matter if it's on sale or not, you still get $X off, whereas if it's a percentage, it changes the amount you're saving if it's on sale.

I hate to rain on the parade but the coupons might be counterfeit.

Was looking at the $10 off $20 vs a 30% off one book coupon and using words like "threshold" sounds "hinky" and suspicious.

If you read earlier posts, you would have seen that cdollaz has already used it and there is an official Borders link to the coupon.

Does anyone know if you can use the coupon on magazines? I would like to get a couple of expensive magazines(Newtype-USA for instance) with the coupon. Thanks.

Some folks on FW are reporting difficulty with using the coupon and/or in-store delays due to managers calling corporate.

Picked up the new "Double Indemnity" at the downtown Portland, OR, store. $22.99 - $10.00 coupon = $12.99 out the door.

Believe me - I wouldn't have posted it if I thought it was a photoshop job. I had already used it before I posted.

The great thing about these $ off coupons (compared to % off coupons) is that the discount applies to the sale price.

coupon worked like a charm

Arrested Development season 3 + 1 piece of Lind Chocolate = $10.40 + tax.

I'm taking a look myself, but in case you know something I don't--have there been any delays with regard to it being fake or just delaying legit use?
EDIT: having read that, it appears they're only being delayed, but it does still sound wonky.
Though I'd like to strangle the asses complaining about signing up for a FREE program that takes TWO SECONDS to sign up for...sigh.

Threshold is a word used on legit $ off ones if I recall correctly, just to affirm that at least it's a well-made counterfeit if that's the case, heh.
