Went to the two in my area... sorely disappointed with both. One barely had a dvd selection at all, and had dvds marked at one price on the shelf and another price on a display elsewhere in the store. Picked up a couple of things, but was certainly hoping for more... :(

Comp USA site doesn't seem to be responding right now, so I checked out my local. Not much there, a bunch of 5 dollar titles that you can get at DDD for ~$6, and a smattering of lukewarm deals, but nothing I was interested in that I could tell. Maybe there were more deals that were unmarked, but a lot of the ones I saw had the manager's special thing on there. Desperate Housewives S1 was the only boxset I saw on sale, and it was for $20, but I don't think I'd like that show, and I have no idea if that's a good price or not. Was worth a shot though.

I stopped by a CompUSA near Boston today and didn't see anything remotely related to this posting.

DDD has it for $45, so it's a pretty good price. Even if you don't like it, it would make a nice gift for someone.

Stopped by Comp USA today and there were about 3 titles on the list of their "blowout" items.

For anyone having problems finding the DVDs they want at your local CompUSA Superstore print out the blow-out list from your web browser, and take it to your local Circuit City or Target. Circuit City and Target match prices, hell even Meijers matches prices. The Circuit City near me matched the Desperate Housewives, Dead Zone, And Seinfeld Season 5 Prices. Great day for DVD purchases!

good god, why didn't I think of that?

(also, I think Target DOESN'T match...Best Buy is an alternative though, as is Wally--and a much less conscientious one about it most of the time, too!)

JohnSlider 08-20-06 08:06 PM

Target may match prices and may not depending on the location, I know for a fact the one in Taylor, MI does because they matched Simpsons seasons sales a few weeks ago.

It would probably be best to call and make sure. It's funny you say Best Buy because the one closest to me doesn't. haha

Hah!
It's on the Best Buy website, so you should call them on it :)

Target I've never tried myself, but I remember another thread where I think three people (!) chimed in saying they don't.
Weird.

dsa_shea 08-20-06 09:12 PM

I had a tire blowout trying to get to CompUsa.

Ianscloset 08-21-06 01:58 PM

I just checked the list at my store.... Squat (What a surprise) Thanks to OP though!!!
I needed another reason to spend money ;)

FangsFirst 08-21-06 04:14 PM

I so very much wish that Close Encounters 2 disc was at mine :\
I've been thinking of buying that repeatedly recently but never got up the heart to spend $15-20 on it....

I've worked (Guest Service) at Target for the past 3 years - in both TX and IN - and it is corporate policy not to price match. I'm guessing John Slider may have gotten a clueless new cashier who knew how to change the price on an item and just assumed that the store price matched. The only price adjustments that are normally allowed are if the item in question goes on sale (not clearance) at Target within 14 days after your original purchase.

The Warner Bargain Bin DVD's are listed as a group under the Miscellaneous items in each store's blowout list if that is something you are looking for. No specific titles, just a quantity and price. Two separate listings for $0.98 and $3.98 bins. At least you'll know the bin exists if that is what you are heading to the store for.

Just be aware that there are a lot more products in store than are listed on their website. The web shows just a half-dozen or so titles for the Salem, NH store, but there were dozens actually for sale.

Didn't pick up any dvd's, but did nab a 300GB external drive for $109. And some of the local stores also have 20GB Ipods for $69!

devilshalo 08-22-06 01:39 PM

Thanks.. worth taking a trip out to the couple that are on the way home for me.

Huh?

The Woburn, MA stores shows two of them in stock (item #315002). A Google search also has them in Des Moines, Santa Barbera, Spokane, and a bunch of other locations!

THere were only about 10 titles at my local CompUSA :(

FangsFirst 08-27-06 12:04 PM

Too bad I missed that coupon, but at least the titles I picked up were only $5 each...

printerati 08-27-06 04:19 PM

The coupon is good through next week, and can also be applied to whatever blowout items are listed online with the "EMAIL25" code. I took a flyer on The Ring Two for $3.74 and also picked up some more iPod accessories. The 50-pack of (single layer) 8x DVD-R and/or DVD+R discs for $8.24 isn't a bad deal, either. A lot of the non-DVD stuff (especially blank media and iPod accessories) should be available at your local store if you want to avoid the $5 ground shipping charge.
