Blockbuster Video PV sale starting 6/27

Just got a call from a friend that works at Blockbuster, she gave me the heads up on this sale starting Tuesday and running for an unknown length of time:

Previously viewed DVD's priced at $9.99 will be 4 for $20.

Previously viewed DVD's over $9.99 up to $14.99 will be 3 for $20.

I don't remember if Blockbuster sales are a YMMV situation or not by whether they're corporate or franchise.

Of course if he did, he wouldn't be working at Blockbuster.

Why not call your friend back and ask her?

Because I'm lazy?

I didn't think of asking her when she told me, and I figured I'd be going in there sometime today either before or after work, and hopefully I'd remember to ask then.

This is going on at my Blockbuster.

Picked up:
Gate of Flesh CC
Hopscotch CC
The Firemen's BallCC
and
The Who Tommy and Quadrophenia

For $20 and tax.

They said boxsets weren't included, but over rid it anyway.

Thank you MovieExchange.

They've got some good $9.99 titles. I picked up:

Three Extremes II
Havoc: Unrated
2001 Maniacs
The Eye 2

All for $20. Not bad...

Probably because stock and price vary by store. What maybe available at x price on 80th and State Line in Kansas City may not reflect what is available at the same price at your fav bb.

The stuff that was 4 for $20 was everything marked 9.99. It was mostly stuff like Dodgeball, Hitchhiker's Guide, Sideways, plus mass older stuff like Collateral, The Village, Alexander, etc. Everything else was 3 for $20, just go to blockbuster.com and check out the "new to previously viewed" titles (King Kong, Mr & Mrs Smith, History of Violence, etc).

I'd be there planning to spend money if I thought the DVDs would be in good shape. The last few years the quality of PV discs have gone way down, people just don't care about rentals. Fingerprints can be wiped off, but a disc with hundreds of scratches should die as a rental.

I looked at at least a dozen titles during their last sale, and even with 5 copies of some, they were all in bad shape.

got Z, History of Violence, and Transporter 2. traded in 3 discs so the whole thing cost me $9. Pretty happy camper.

p.s. they were sold out of Mr & Mrs. Smith. 17 copies went in one day...

The funny thing is that as BBV has gotten more DVDs per title, I have an easier time of finding a nice, clean copy. Used to be when they only had a handful, it was impossible.

If you have a couple of BB close to you, and some time, it might be worth checking them all out. Not only do they have different stocks (obviously) but it seems each store has different prices as well For example the first one I went to (which didn't have everything I wanted which is how I ended up at the other one) had The Island for $12.99, the second one had it for $9.99.

Remember - Never Ever Ever Ever Pay untill you make them show you the discs. Some discs are scratched so bad they are garbage.

They do come with a 30 day guarantee. So, you can always return them if there's a problem.

I got these for $21.50 total:
High Tension
Constantine
The Jacket
Batman Begins
The Island
Kingdom of Heaven

Man, did I get a good deal. I went to my local BB today to get my free weekly rental (for BB online,) it was 15 mins to closing and a pretty girl working on one register. Anyways, as she scanned my dvds there was a problem and they wouldn't scan at the sale price. After a while she was able to scan them up for $21.50, then she she said it didn't look right but told me that she wasn't going to bother trying to fix it. I said it's fine by me, and she told me to not to tell anyone in a jokingly manner. So, that's my story.
