What day did yours ship? I'm hoping to get it today since the mail won't run tomorrow. (Fingers crossed)

My ship date is listed as 06/27/06.

Is the limited number anywhere on the actual ape head or DVD box at all? I got a piece of paper in the box that has it listed on there, but I can't find it anywhere on the actual items.

I see it on the R2 version from this picture:

DDD sure can screw up. My order placed on 6/23 is still listed as In-Process as of today 7/3. I had called on 6/29 to inquire about it and was told it would ship on that day or the next. Saturday morning 7/1 when I had not received any shipping email and it was still listed as In-Process I emailed them and asked about it again and was told it would ship in 24 to 48 hours. I have also been checking my CC to see if the charge went through. Then today, 7/3, I received the following email:

We are sorry for the delay in your Planet of the Apes item being shipped. Due to this delay, we have shipped you a copy of this item UPS Next dayAir. Due to the holiday you should receive this item on 7/5/05. We have also confirmed that your original order was shipped on 6/30/06 via U.S. media Mail. We will ask that you please return the duplicate box. We ask that you please write Refused-Return to Sender on the second box you receive. We are sorry for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused.

About 30 minutes after receiving this email there is a big box on the front porch that I would guess is the POTA-Ultimate but now I have to wait until 7/5 to get the next one sent by UPS Nextday Air and take the USPS one back to the post office in the future to refuse it.

Does the USPS care if you open a package before you refuse it? I think I heard once the package was not supposed to be opened when you did this but I want to see what # number is on this one and keep the best one.

If you open it, you'll have to pay the return postage.

My Planet of the Apes set came in today, and wow...the ape head is friggin' cool! Not that it matters much, but my certificate is #00106/10,000.

Yes - they won't let you open it. No carrier will.

I got mine in the mail today, #04412. It's absolutely awesome. It's funny too, as my girlfriend and I were watching Lucky Louie last night, where Louie spends $300 on a Frankenstein doll, while neglecting to pay his bills. My girlfriend gave me looks through the entire show, then today she sees me carrying downstairs a large package, and watched over my back as I opened it, shaking her head the whole time.
Luckily I'm not in Louie's position where I can't afford this kind of stuff.
On a side note it literaly scares the crap out of her dog.

Funny this hasn't sold faster. Either there aren't many fans wanting something like this or they don't know about it. This set has the coolest packaging of any DVD I own. And the content is great as well, basically every chunk of PotA ever released. I got #280 by the way.

Somehow I'm not surprised. The big monkey head seems absurd to me.

I think part of the reason these haven't sold faster is because I know many fans already own the previous releases and part of the reason can be attributed to the price. Oh and let's not forget the past DDD sale I think pretty much wiped out most people.

Just got my ape head today! Way cool! My 12 year old thought it was dumb, but then he couldn't stop touching the hair!

BTW, I got #2999.

For the people that had these shipped media mail, did your set arrive safely? During the sale I had some box sets that were shipped in larger boxes and got beat up pretty bad by the post office.

Don't worry about damage or anything like that. It would take a LOT to inflict any damage at all to the actual ape head.

The only numbers I could see carrying any extra value would be #1 or #10,000. These were probably saved for special people like the actors, company executives, etc.

Amazon sold the first 100 during preorder. They had a note on the site that they would be distributed to those who bought at amazon.
