Question:

DDD has this item:

MULTI MEDIA REVOLVING CABINET OAK 1 ($159.96 after %20 off)

listed has holding 600DVDs, but other sites list as holding 425DVDs.

Has anyone purchased one yet? Can you confirm the amount of DVDs it can hold. And was it worth the purchase(Quality).

I'm thinking of picking up 2 of these, but wanted to confirm before placing an order.

TIA

I think postal workers sometimes see this big heavy box and toss it around and pile stuff on it like it was a piece of brick or something, giving no thought to the contents.

I think there is something to this. Every year I place one really big order and than some follow up orders. Every year the large order is tossed in a box with some paper on top and stuff gets beat up. The smaller orders are packed tighter/better and are not damaged. This year is no exception as I had to call today to get 3 items replaced. I will give cudos to CS they took care of the issue promptly. I know they are swamped but how hard is it to properly package these orders. It would save them $$$ (even if the distributor takes back the discs they still have to foot shipping two ways) and they could pass that savings on to us. Even just adding some air pouches between box sets or a sheet of bubble wrap around the edges, between the rows would help dramitically.

I made an order of about $250 yesterday and received the shipping notification by email today that it's going via media mail too. Probably because only $170 or so was shipped at this point since the other $80 of DVDs are on backorder. Oh well. I can wait.

I still laugh thinking about "Rex Cramer: Daredevil." He makes those extreme sports guys look like sissies.

I've been tempted to order The Dead Zone TV series which is under $15 for the 1st 3 seasons. I read (or skimmed) every review of every season (1 through 3) listed on DVD Basen. Is this right:

Season 1 - 4 DVDs. Supposedly there was a 5th bonus disc offer but that offer expired and/or they ran out of those long ago?

Season 2 - 5 DVDs. At least 1 of the Season 2 reviews said it was only 3 DVDs. Of course at least 1 review said the DVDs were Full Frame instead of 16x9 anamorphic, so I take the majority opinion which is 16x9.

Seasons 3 & 4 - 3 DVDs each.

I saw the pilot movie, and I thought it was decent. Since this will be a blind buy, I'm tempted to buy the first 2 seasons now since 4 DVDs and 5 DVDs for $14.81 seems like a better deal than just 3 DVDs. Hopefully the remaining seasons won't be any more expensive at the next DDD sale in 6 months. Since I haven't paid attention to the series, I don't know how many seasons were (or are going to be) produced. Does the series end at Season 4 or will there be more? I couldn't find any full Season 4 DVD reviews online.

Could anyone who has bought these seasons from DDD confirm that they are in fact 4, 5, 3, and 3 DVDs respectively and that Season 1 does not have a 5th bonus DVD?

I just checked and your info is correct. It's 4, 5 and 3. There's an empty spot for the bonus disc of Season 1 which was the original pilot. I believe that there was a different actor playing Reverend Purdy. I'm glad that they got David Ogden Stiers for the role because he's quite good.

EDIT: I haven't received my copy of season 4 yet so I cannot answer your question regarding the amount of discs for this season.

Thanks for checking. The missing bonus disc for Season 1 is the original pilot? Was there anything else on this bonus disc? If not, missing the bonus disc is no loss because it's available from DDD for $4.79.

In your opinion, do you think I should buy all 4 seasons as a blind buy or just stick with the first 2 for now?

While I focused mostly on the technical aspects (to avoid having too much given away in the episode descriptions) of the reviews I read, I gathered that some reviewers' opinions of the series started to slide after Season 2. Do you agree?

I see a Dead Zone Season 5 listed in production, so I guess the series isn't over yet. I'm never certain whether I should wait for a series to finish and buy one massive box set or pick them up individually when they seem cheap.

Someone hoped/speculated The X-Files would probably someday get a 9 season box set which would hopefully be a bit cheaper than $22.28 each like they are now. I found the episodes too hit and miss, so I have trouble justifying the money at $22.28 even though it's about $1 per episode.

I know this isn't the appropriate thread, but since this is probably getting more traffic, I am going to post it here. Flame if you feel like it, but I won't dignify any negative responses.

Edit: answered both questions myself. Thanks anyway.

I haven't seen season 4 yet, but I think that the first three seasons are definitely worth it, especially at such a nice price. The main thing that bummed me out about season 3 was that they dropped Dana[the reporter] from the show. I quite enjoyed her in the first two seasons.

Alright. I got back from Travel tonight and I had two packages from DDD. The first big box looked like it had been through hell and back. Surprisingly there was very little damage to any of the boxes (A couple corner dings, but those could have already been there). I've always been surprised at the mediocre job that DDD does for packaging, but it always seems to get here ok (I've probably bought 300+ DVD's from them).

The first package had all of my first and second order, so I wasn't sure what was in the second box. It turned out that DDD sent me a box that was supposed to go to a Paul V. in Irvine, CA (I'm in the midwest). Very odd. I'm going to e-mail DDD for them to advise. The invoice that is inside the box is correct, but the shipping info is to me.

I placed my first (and only?) order yesterday....and got the shipping confirmation today!! I did the SLOOOOOOOOW shipping, but I don't need them any time soon. to DDD for another great sale. I don't buy that many DVDs online anymore, but they tend to get the majority of my biz (with amazon getting the rest)

I just placed an order and have a question. I used 2nd day air for my order and about half of my titles were out of stock. When they come back in, will they also ship 2nd day air?

Just to clarify, the missing bonus disc with the unaired pilot is not the same as the single-disc aired pilot being sold separately. The bonus disc was a mailaway for an unaired pilot episode starring Michael Moriarty as Purdy instead of David Ogden Stiers. It was only available by mailing in the coupon. Some people reported sending in the coupon after the expiration date and still getting the disc, but that was a couple years ago. I *think* there might be a commentary or deleted scenes or trailers or something as a bonus feature on the bonus disc. It's been a while since I watched it. Anyway, it's way OOP now as far as I know, unless Lion's Gate has a pile of them sitting somewhere waiting to be claimed. They accidentally sent me two of them when I mailed away my coupon, and I sold one of them (disc only) last year on eBay for $122.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the show if you decide to blind buy it! It's one of my favorites, although Season 4 was a little weaker than 1-3 IMO; season 2 is probably the strongest, but there's really never been a bad or disappointing episode. I just thought you might want to be informed about the bonus DVD in case you're anal about your collection, since there *will* be that empty space in Season 1 unless you can find the OOP disc.

After receving about 100 disks worth of stuff (a bunch of TV series seasons and some movies)... I think I'm officially out of room to hold my DVDs here.

Anyways... getting $400 of DVDs and a DS Lite on the same day = Christmas in June.

Oh god me too. I love all the seasons, but I will always miss Dana. She was my favorite character that wasn't Johnny.

And to the other question, there are 3 dvds in the season 4 set.

Second and final order:

ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH-MAN ON TH $ 7.26
DRACULA (1979) $ 7.58
DEEP PURPLE-LIVE IN CALIFORNIA '74 $ 9.14
DEAD ZONE-4TH SEASON $ 17.34
JUDAS PRIEST-LIVE VENGEANCE '82: D $ 7.16
DIO-HOLY DIVER LIVE $ 9.14
Your Total: $57.62

Dead Zone is a gift...and IMO, Pluto Nash was Eddies funniest flick since the Nutty Professor, and I really don't like Eddie...but I lauged my ass off.
Dracula was a blind buy (always heard how good it was...) and how can you go wrong with Dio, Priest and Purple??

BIG thanks to the good folks at Deep Discount DVD. I've said it before: about 85% of my DVD shopping is with them year round, and these sales only make it sweeter.
They are truly a class act.
