Well, looks like the "$200 for upgraded shipping" isn't necessarily true. My last order of $201 shipped media mail today. That is, unless it shipped UPS and I just didn't get a tracking #, which could definately be the case, due to the automated emailing of shipping confirmation.

I'll probably give them a call tomorrow to see if there's a tracking number on this.

...And can't wait till November when I get to spend gobs of money again!

Thanks again DDD, my order came today well ahead of schedule with free shipping. Everything (discs, slipcovers, cases) was in perfect condition. I received Ronin C.E., Kingdom of Heaven 4-disc, Dazed and Confused CC.

On a side now, wow Dazed and Confused is nice. I love the packaging, booklet, poster, and disc art! Also, the Kingdom of Heaven disc layout is different, but attractive. I am considering one more order before Sat. but I think I'll hold off.

Received my first order today with the Andy Griffith season sets in perfect condition for Father's Day. My 2nd & 3rd orders are on the way too.

I was going to buy Christmas in August & Old School but they are both backordered. I think I've spent too much already and that gives me a reason to not make a 4th order.

81 bucks for 1 season of STNG that seems really high. Almost makes you want to buy the whole collection and sell off the ones you don't have.
those were Father's Day gifts ... the full set was backordered anyway ;( so didn't want to wait ...

Neither of my $200 orders got upgraded shipping. Was a little sad to see that but it doesn't bother me much. They've shipped stuff out extremely fast.

C'mon guys . . . why even bother mentioning it? Two things:

1) If you pay for 2-day shipping, you are getting just that . . . 2-day shipping . . . not 2-day processing. Given the volume of business that they are doing, can you really blame them for taking a little while to get some of the orders out? Particularly if they are bigger orders.

2) If your package gets picked up by the shipper and doesn't get to you 2 days later, it's not DDD's fault, its the shipping companies fault. By all means let DDD know so that they can address it with their shippers, but don't blame them for something that they can't control.

We go through this discussion every time they have this sale . . .

And in reality, are any of us really hurting for DVD's so badly that we can't wait a few more days for new ones to come in?

As Shagrath has said it was a matter of saying it shipped and not actually shipping ONCE it is out of thier hands I no longer place any blame on DDD even AFTER that I still made another order with them so really since it was FREE I said I couldnt complain I was just sharing my experience was very similar to Shagrath. DDD has been GREAT so far no complaints and I have even reccomended them to family and friends so it was not a rant on DDD at all we all have experiences good and bad with retailers and so far I ahve nothing but good things to say about DDD........It was just wierd how UPS NOT DDD decided to ship it to get to me thats all.......

And as Shagrath has said since it was free shiping both of said that it was a moot point and that I was happy to get my order in good condition I will most def. order from them again and reccomend others to do as well... lets end this complaing and get back to the fun

Why no Man Show 4th season as well?

Speaking of that, when in the world was it released? That one totally snuck in under my nose, and to me it's a must have since it was Adam and Jimmy's last season on the show.

Shagrath I cant agree more with you I spent my "allowance" for this sale BUT I cant wait untill Nov when I can really get into it ....

As for the Tracking I always got my tracking number in my "order shipped" email...now since you selected free shipping it may have not sent one out by default, but hopefully it works out for you...with the quantity of orders that they have been getting I am sure a few orders slip through here and there

Well, like I said I'm trying to keep the total down this time. Got no intention of buying anymore after the 4th season anyway since the show really suffered after Jimmy and Adam left.

Also figured I'd save something for the NOV sale. (Which hopefully will happen again this year!)

You have selective reading habits. It was cleared up that they don't. Go back and read through the last 8 or 9 pages of the previous thread.

If they end up selling it below cost, they make no profit.

If that happens often enough, they go out of business.

Do any of us really want that?

All I'm saying is that getting Naked Lunch for $23.99 is already cheaper than anywhere else on the web, or at a retail store. Taking another 20% off of that price means they would probably be selling it BELOW cost. Big box retailers like Best Buy can easily get away with selling stuff like DVD's below cost, because they have have higher profit-margin items to compensate for the loss. DDD doesn't have that to fall back on. I don't understand why people who love DDD so much would want to "shaft" them, or "take advantage" of them, or however you wish to put it. For 50 weeks out of the year, we wish it was one of the two weeks that DDD does these sales. You'd think you'd be happy to get a Criterion title of a fantastic film for a really good price, which $23.99 already is.

I'm not trying to flame you, Sir Soriano, so please don't be offended...but as someone who's worked in music/DVD retail for nearly 10 years, I'm just trying to explain why DDD probably doesn't make THAT much profit during these sales in the first place.

18 hour turnaround for me, pretty good considering I ordered at 1 EST this morning.

The website order status lags behind any e-mails you get though.

DDD Dave mentioned in the last thread that orders over $200 don't necessarily trigger a shipping upgrade. He said it is usually done if there has a been a problem before with a particular address or area. He apologized for any confusion he may have caused with his previous post. Hope that helps.

By the way, the stats are interesting. I hope you post the finally tally in comparison with the final one from this past November when the sale is all wrapped up.

Q I checked around, and I can buy something cheaper than DDD's listed price. Can I price match and then get the 20% taken off the new price?
A No. You can either price match or get 20% off according to DDD's guidelines. However some people have reported that they were able to convince the DDD rep they dealt with to take 20% off as well. This is definitely a YMMV (your mileage may vary) situation, and do not expect it to work.
