Sorry, no link. This a B&M deal.

Are all of the simpsons sets included? Do you remember a price on those?
|
I don't know if all of the Simpsons sets were included. Sorry, don't remember the price. I only noticed season 6 because of the non-standard case. They had most of the B1G1 sets on a table by the entrance. There's no consistency from one store to the next as to what titles they put out - I've seen titles marked B1G1 at one store that weren't at another so your best bet is to ask.
I suspect you can probably use their online, non-sale prices as a guide. |
There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago with many of the same titles. Numb3rs is not included in this deal though. As far as Simpsons sets go, it's just Season Six. For some shows, all of the seasons are included, but for others, it's only one particular season. Also, I think they've added all of the Law & Order seasons to this deal as well.

Thanks for the info. Just picked up The Matrix Ultimate Collection - Limited Edition and the Godfather boxed set for $58. Would have like Numb3rs instead of the Godfather set but is not included in this deal.
|
Well, the Springfield, VA store does have Numb3rs stickered for the B1G1 sale. They had a couple copies on the table.
|
Maybe Numb3rs is a YMMV, but it definitely isn't on the list in the store planner. I might consider picking it up if it was though. :)

Is this sale in the computer automatically, or does it differ by store? My FYE had a VERY limited selection on a table at the front of the store. All the rest of the titles I had interest in (MAry Tyler Moore, MASH, etc) were in their regular place with no indication of a sale. I went to the clerk and asked if there was a "list" of titles, since the ad posted at the table said, "Specific titles" or something of that nature. She looked at me like I was from Mars and said, "It only includes the titles on the table!" When I pointed out that the ad pictured several titles not on the table, she simply shrugged and repeated the original statement. I didn't brave the agravation of having her try it at the register.

Yes, the titles on the BOGO promotion should automatically ring up at the cash register. I normally stop by a FYE in NJ and NYC, and have yet to see a store specific promotion.
No offense to any store employees of FYE, but I have stopped asking them about specifics on store promotions. Instead, I ask them if I could look at their paper printout of the current store promotions. If I need a confirmation of price, I use the in-store scanner or ask them to ring it at the cash register before buying. Take for example the this current promotion on the Matrix set, one store employee told me it was not on the BOGO promotion for this month even though the set was on the BOGO desk with a BOGO sticker on it. We had to ring it up at the cash register before he was convinced that it was on sale. I wish they would display this promo information when you use the in-store scanner. By the way, box sets (only scanned Matrix & Oliver Stone) for the BOGO promo scans as $0.00 at the scanner. -confused- |

None taken! Unfortuntely most FYE employees are clueless, but there are a few of us that do know what's going on. See my link above for an accurate list of titles that are part of this deal. They've also added the A-Team and Knight Rider seasons to this BOGO deal. (Of course those are already at Best Buy for much cheaper this week anyway.) All of the Law & Orders should be eligible too. The computer will automatically calculate the prices, so even if the employees are no help, the deal will still work. |
ltrain, is there a way to determine the rebate promotion period and the actual dollar amount of the rebate for a specific DVD? It seems the only way to get this information is here on DVDTalk through other member's purchase or actually purchase the item myself to see the rebate form. My questions to store employees always seems to be met with the usual confused look followed by the "yes, it's on the $x.xx AR rack, so it should be on sale" response.
I am only asking this question due to situations where a customer may have accidentally put a DVD back on a $4.99 AR shelf instead of the $7.99 AR shelf. Or in another scenario from this sale, The Naked Gun DVD was advertised as $2.99 AR with a sale price of $6.99 but actually had a $7.00 rebate making the item FAR. Hoping you can shed some light on how to achieve this with the assistant of a store employee. Thanks. |
Yeah, I remember the Naked Gun incident from a few weeks ago. There were a few other titles that were affected as well (Serpico comes to mind). To fix the problem so they weren't just giving away DVD's for free, they raised the sale price to $9.99, effectively making Naked Gun and others $2.99 after rebate. The problem is, many stores probably didn't change the actual sale stickers on the respective products, so they honored the mis-price anyway and some people ended up getting the title for free after rebate.
As far as knowing exactly what titles are on rebate and for how much etc., unfortunately it totally depends on how good the management and employees are at any given store. Trans World is a huge company with over a thousand stores and I know there are a lot of stores that probably don't follow every single detail about setting up these promotions because they can be a huge pain in the ass! Sale prices are constantly changing on many titles, especially new releases. If the title is on a rebate, then the rebate signing has to be changed as well. For example, yesterday I spent two hours changing a bunch of sale prices on new stuff like Pink Panther, Firewall, Glory Road, etc. Since these were all on rebate too, I had to change all of the signing to correspond with the new after MIR price. Our store is usually pretty good about staying on top of things but I have visited some stores that are completely disorganized. So it really just depends on the employees' ability to follow directions from the home office, which I admit are often confusing and idiotic. The amounts for the rebates vary. Usually new stuff is $7 or sometimes $5. If it's a boxed set it might be $10. (Beavis & Butthead v.2) Most New Release DVD rebates last for two weeks after their respective street date. After that, they are done. Some rebates (like Naked Gun) last for a whole planner period (3 weeks), or sometimes even longer. Lately they've been having some decent catalog titles for $4.99 or $7.99 after rebate. These are usually on some sort of four-sided fixture or on the backside of the New Release fixture. That was probably way more information than you needed or expected but hopefully it answers your question, or if you have others feel free to ask. There was a member awhile ago who used to keep an updated thread of TWEC rebates and their amounts but I think it became too much of hassle because of inconsistencies among stores or it might of been simply a lack of good deals (even with the rebates). |
