My question was more of .. where do people have the urge to buy these, or how do they find out that "PINK CHAQUITAS" is a great movie to buy? IE. A friend had it or came across something about surfin the net, or....

Most people on this board are simply rabid film buffs, and as such are extremely knowledgeable about film of all genres. Being a film/DVD enthusiast involves constantly looking for information about most every title ever released in your areas of interest, no matter how obscure, or what era/region they come from. This board and others are excellent ways to feed that interest.
The question of "where the urge comes from" is pretty unanswerable. You might as well ask why people are who they are.
