Oh no! looks like ddd has shipped my order via UPS. But UPS to Canada is insane! I didn't request UPS. If UPS ships it, these discs will cost me a fortune due to UPS insane brokagage fees.

What can I do? I don't want to pay another $80 ontop due to UPS!!!!

Tried putting some stuff into the shopping basket, nothing in it about in stock or out of stock...are you sure that items in the shopping basket will have a stock indicator?

Or do you have to proceed to the checkout before you see the indicators?

Shame they don't show stock on the listings instead.

I second that emotion, and if you've never seen the movie before, you're in for an experience!

Without a doubt!!! It's an absolutely brilliant piece of film making throughout! I wish I only got my copy years ago for $45. .. but it's worth ten times the price in terms of quality - IMHO.

Do it .....

Totally agree. It is on of the favorite things in my collection. I also want to get From the Earth to the Moon. I wish it was $45 too.

First, and probably last, order for this sale:

1 COL006018 DVD : SAFE $ 4.78 In-stock
1 FLA005104 DVD : DAVID & LISA $ 7.19 Backorder
1 FLA005268 DVD : LES CARABINIERS $ 11.99 In-stock
1 HVD001837 DVD : IN THE YEAR OF THE PIG $ 12.48 In-stock

DDD lists the David and Lisa DVD as a backorder, but I'm worried that it may already be out of print. Amazon only has used copies. Anyone know anything about this one?

I was thinking of ordering BLACK WIDOW (Debra Winger) and MEMPHIS BELLE (directed by Michael Caton-Jones). Unfortunately between the reviews and inconsistent specs on different DVD sites, I'm not sure if either of these have Anamorphic Widescreen. Some sites say yes, others say no.

Could anyone who knows for sure please post? If these are anamorphic then I'll order them.

Thanks for the advice on Band of Brothers guys, I will do it in the next couple days. Just one random question: Does it have the cool "HBO Original Programming" static logo at the start of each ep?

Damn. that sucks? Why so much? Did you place a large order or smaller ones? maybe that's what got you into the UPS upgrade.

No, it wasn't a large order. Only $114, but it is the largest i've made at DDD so far. They've always shipped via USPS before, and claim on the website they still do.

It so much because its UPS! with their ripoff brokerage fees! thats why us CDN's hate UPS from the US.

Wonder if I can refuse the pkg, and let DDD know. So then they can reship via USPS.

It's taken me a couple of days to read all the posts, but YES I have done so. I also found several DVDS I had forgotten about and ordered them.

you should absolutely refuse it, since I'm sure they won't pay for the fees. bottom line they shipped a method that you did not ask for, so they should be responsible.

It has some sort of HBO logo. I think it starts out snowy-like and turns into a clear picture. If I could keep only one of my DVDs it would be Band of Brothers. In addition to being a fantastic mini-series, it has a great DTS soundtrack.

Yeah, no way i'm paying $80+ on UPS fees for a $114 order. I already emailed them, saying if they won't pay the fees, I will be refusing the shipment.

Okay, serious question to those who are dropping upwards of a grand here:

What's your backlog like? I've spent around $500 at the most on one of these sales in the past, which was insane to me. At the same time, I kept in mind the amount of titles I already owned that I hadn't watched. I guess my point is, it would seem sort of pointless to stock up on so many DVDs if you had any significant amount of unwatched DVDs already in your collection; mostly because of pricedrops becoming a more common trend.

Just curious.

My order on the first day of sale was also shipped yesterday. But 2-3 week time is longer than my international deliver time.

Just hope I won't get the custom tax.
