I think you can place a deposit at anytime but this this the first appearnce of this in a BB ad.

My take on the BB ad is that IF you want an additional $5 off any Disney DVD $14.99 & UP, than you can do so by placing a $5 deposit on the Chronicles of Narnia.

Whether you are interested in the 1 or 2 DVD version is up to you.

For me, I plan to buy Lady & the Tramp for $16.99 and place a $5 deposit on the two disc Chronicle set.

The paper ad I have seems to make this scenario possible.

HOWEVER, the Best Buy site seems to indicate that if you lay down a deposit on the Chronicle of Narnia DVD / DVD set you can

Pre-order The Chronicles of Narnia and save $5 on your choice of one DVD from a selection of Disney titles, including Finding Nemo and Sky High!

There is a list of eligible titles to get the $5 off on listed on the website.

As such, I'm going to have to read this ad more carefully than when I'm at work.

Can anyone tell me how to do the price match at Best Buy for the 14.99 Circuit City price? If I need to bring in an ad, where can I get that? Or can someone scan/post the Circuit City ad?

Depending on your BB, most likey your BB will have to see the ad and that item is in stock at the competitor before price matching.

Just wait till Sunday and find the CC ad in the newspaper, or drop by a CC to get the ad.

Of course the problem is this : They surely won't give you the lower CC price AND then take $5 off for CoN preorder. Tough situation, that.

I'll get it at Target. Spend an extra $2 over CC but get a movie ticket worth about $6 (matinee). I don't really care about plush animals & with a 16 theater multiplex you can see any movie you want with the ticket once you're in the door.

So is the BB Plush offer only good online? If so, how can you price-match an online purchase?

I don't think the pic is up to scale, or the plush is very small.

I know that there's that Disney coupon at BB where you get $5 off if you buy two Disney dvds. I remember some people being able to use it on one of the titles that offered an exclusive, because it considered the plush (or whatever the bonus was) as another dvd.

YMMV and this may not even work at all anymore. But please give us a post if it does work.

Well, based on past pre-orders and exclusives, the Best Buy plushes are bigger, about 6-8 inches in length. The Thumper and Abu dolls were also very UGLY, FWIW. They look cheap and not entirely like the character they were based on. They sorta remind me of the dolls one wins at a carnival game.
On the other hand, the two exclusive dolls I've got from TRU (Genie and Mushu) were smaller, the size of Beanie Babies, but much better made and more detailed. Of course you tend to pay through the nose for the TRU price these days, so take that for what it's worth.

Anyone have Canadian prices? FF/BB has it for CA$24.99, which sounds like a ripoff compared to the US$14.99 prices you guys are posting.

Well, I preordered mine at TRU and they said it would be $14.99 more on Tuesday plus the plush toys.

Most likely Walmart will have the DVD by itself for roughly $14-15ish then they will have a seperate one with the bonus CD for $19.99 which is BULLS*IT if you ask me. I even cornered a Walmart manager once on why they charge more for what Best Buy or Circuit City would give away for free. The manager just rambled on about something about how "its only a few dollars more." I just threw the DVD set for "Cinderella" back at him and walked out.

Sorry, but I *REFUSE* to pay more for an "exclusive" item like that and anyone who does is just plain out stupid.

Oh, and Circuit City's ad just says "low price" so that will only make it harder to PM it elsewhere.

Normally one of the local grocery store chains in my area does a simular sale but sadly this time there aren't. That's not too bad of a deal but I would imagine the price on the DVD will be at least $19.99 so its a wash. Not bad for families who are getting groceries there anyways.

BB had Rent for $16.99 and price matched CC's ($14.99) without an ad. I think if it's within a couple dollars, they don't make a big deal out of it (at least at mine).

I work for the evil retailer that is Wal-Mart, and can tell you the real reason. Sure it doesn't really cost Wal-Mart any more money then the regular DVD, (the mark up is close to the same percent) but this gives them the ability to actually make money and still be competitive on a new release DVD or music CD, when most stores including Wal-Mart are selling an item to you below what it costs them. Sure some stores give you exclusive items when you purchase something, but they are most of the time in very small quanites. It's all about making money, and this is a way to make money on something that would normally be sold at a loss.

I love my Best Buy. Occasionally for the new releases they lower their price for release day only to be the lowest price absolutely.

I got my Lady and the Tramp dvd for 12.99

...and the plush is so tiny...oh well, it was free.
