By comparison, it's $38.42 from Deep Discount DVD.

Or for a better comparison, I got this on a good deal for about $75 a few years ago :P

Good price.

There's a $5 off of $45 coupon on DVD's that seems to be taking $5 off of this item in my cart and through the checkout process, so that brings it to $30.

Edit: Scratch that: when I tried to place the order, it wouldn't let me do it due to the $45 minimum.

Do all sets come with 3-D glasses?

Never bought from buy.com. Do they charge sales tax? Shipping?

No tax and generally free shipping. This Elm Street collection does have free shipping. I ended up ordering it yesterday together with Bambi II (now there's a contrast for ya) to get the $5 coupon off of $45. I don't know if the coupon is still available, but it's still a good price at $35 shipped.

This is after I mulled it over and passed it up in the last DDD 20% off sale at $30. But I now think it belongs in my collection.

buy.com does charges sales tax to ca and a few other states methinks. and shipping is generally free with a few restrictions.

i have purchased from them a few times, mainly to take advantage of their instant credit when applying for their rewards credit card - i believe its $25 or $30 now.

long story short... i didnt get instant credit because i wasnt approved right away, but i emailed and did get credit later (and bought more dvds :P).

amazon has a similar rewards credit card but much better all-around system of doing things imho.

Yea, I remember paying close to $100 back in 1999 for the set. I should've waited 6 years!

DJ_Longfellow 02-14-06 07:08 AM

This set is WELL worth the money. I think I paid $75 or something for it, then I picked up one with a WALMART misprice a few years later for cheap.

Excellent set and deal.

AllHallowsEve 02-14-06 08:38 AM

This set is almost 7 years old now.

I wonder if New Line plans on reissuing these as special editions with the deleted scenes (whenever the next movie comes out if one does)? Is that why these are so cheap now.

spyd3rgt 02-14-06 09:43 PM

This set was actually the first DVD (set of DVDs, technically) that I bought when I got a DVD player. I think I paid $130 or so, back when bestbuy.com only sold DVDs.
