Updated the tables in post 2.
I was just about to mention the ADV sale, but SBJ just beat me to it.
I'm checking out Best Buy tonight to see if they have any of those Animerica magazines. If they do, I'm going to try something that will probably be a big YMMV. I don't want to post it yet until I find out whether it will work at all or not.

I've heard things about boxes being crushed, but how is ADV about loose discs in boxes?

Has anyone actually picked up the Animerica in stores yet, and if so where was it?

Well... Probably the same as anyone else. I don't think they have much control over the loose disc aspect unless any of the items you receive happen to have been open box or something.

Updated the tables (thanks, SkyDog).

Updated with the ADV sale.

I ordered from the last two sales. I did not get any floaters, but my friend got a couple. My boxes were in pretty good shape. I am still waiting for about 30 dollars worth of shows and have yet to get credited or anything. They ignore all emails and calls to customer service.

Over all I'd say I'm glad I got the deals I did, but I will never order from them again.

Incidently, thats what other people said trying to warn me before I ordered. ADV customer service is just something you have to experience to truly appreciate.

They have each volume on sale for just $5, so you can get the entire 26 episode series for $15.

I got that too at the last sale and its good for its time. Very entertaining.

I tried it last night without the magazine and it didn't work. You were lucky!

Here's hoping for the best -- put in an order w/ ADV for BGC:2040, Panyo Panyo DiGi Charat, Nurse Witch Komugi, Dai Guard, a few cheap OAVs, & some soundtracks.

Unfortunately noticed after looking back at my confirmation e-mail that I'd accidentally ordered 2 copies of BGC:2040 #3... given the issues that others have reported with ADV's customer service, I'll just figure out what to do with the extra copy when it gets here.

One of my stores finally got the lil mags in, but I really wanted to get gatchaman set 4 last night, so printed out the one from the first page of this talkback, and figured worth a shot, and they took it. Give it a try if your store doesnt have any new magazines....The coupon is not on the back it is about mid way through of the winter 06 mag, just an fyi, there.

Nah, nothing of the sort. In fact, I think you can safely remove the YMMV from my previous post, as I got it to work with no problem whatsoever. So without further adieu, here it is:

Best Buy B&M:
Robotech Protoculture Collection
$58.79 for Replay Rewards members w/30% off coupon in Animerica Magazine pg. 23 (see above)
($71.39 with 15% off for non-members)
Expires 2/25/06

Getting the membership pays for itself with this purchase alone, as membership is $9.99 and gives you an extra $12.60 off.

Is that for this week only or something? I don't get what makes this purchase special as opposed to another purchase with the 15/30% off coupon. Or is this price special B&M or...?

It's not that special really. (The regular price at BB is $83.99) I just figured that some people might "think small" as far as what they use the coupon on instead of an item where it's makes a $25 difference. I didn't really think that they would let the coupon be applied on box sets. The coupon makes the price by far the best I've seen for that set. After tax is factored in, It would be about the same as the DDD 20% off sale would have been if they included ADV titles in it. In the 20% off thread I had seen quite a few people pissed that the set wasn't part of the sale, so since this is an opportunity to get it at about the same price, I thought it would be worth mentioning here if it worked. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up for something spectacular.

According to posters over at AOD, you can use the BB 30% off coupon more than once. I picked up a few of the magazines at BB yesterday, but I didn't use the coupon because I was unaware that you could use the 30% coupon more than once(I was debating whether or not to get the Wolf's Rain set for $70 after coupon). So you might want to pick up a few copies of the magazine for the extra coupons.

I just wish I could find one of the magazines. My local BB totally threw me through the "We had them, but we sent them back" routine. Why would they even do that? At least make up something plausible! Sheesh.

I went to another Best Buy, and they had a buttload. I guess it's pretty hit and miss depending on how well the anime section does or something!

Hot Topic now has Samurai Champloo Volume 6 with tin for $8.39 on their website. They are sold out online, but it should be the same price at their many B&M's.

http://www.hottopic.com/store/produc...=251965&RN=103

Also, the BB coupon is awesome! I have already bought X Set 1(1-4) and X Set 2(5-8) for $56, Wolf's Rain Box Set for $70, Pretear Thinpak for $16.10, Kino's Journey Thinpak for $21 and Najica Blitz Tactics Thinpak for $21.70. Before the sale ends, I'll most likely be getting Kaleido Star Thinpak for $27.30, Gantz Season 1 Set for $31.50 and the Azumanga Daioh Thinpak for $31.50.

It was reported as $5.99 last month, so I think the price must vary from store-to-store.

The $5.99 was a 1 day sale. It was the usual $11.99 with a 1 day sale of an extra 50% off of all clearance. The new every day price is $8.39 and if they have another 50% off of all clearance, then it would be $4.20.
