Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2-Disc for $21.99/1-disc $15.98 @ Amazon
Maybe this just came on at Amazon but I noticed that the regular version can be pre-ordered (it's $15.98 btw) but this I can't. I wanted to do it now while I'm still on the Amazon Prime free trial.
Also, anyone think that's a decent price for it? It's retailed at $39.99 I think. |

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...710190-2904045 I'll change the topic so we can consider this a discussion on the Goblet of Fire DVDs... So, is $21.99 a good price? I imagine places like CC or BB will have it for around $25 when it comes out, right? Oh, and in my original post, I made a mistake, the retail price is $30.98 not $39.99... |
If the MSRP is $30.98, I would imagine that intense interest and competition would put this below $20 for the first few days, perhaps as low as $16-18.
|
ch.com has it for $18.58
|
I can see Wal-Mart having this for $15 or less during the 1st week of release.

I can see Amazon lowering their pre-order price, though as they did in just about all of the above examples. |

Now I pre-ordered it at $21.99, if they did drop the price a little, maybe $19.99 or whatever, will the price be changed in my order or will I have to cancel the pre-order and do it again? It might not be alot but any dollar saved is good...

It seems that R1 is the only region that the studios pull this practice on, further letting us know that they think the general consumer is a fucking idiot. :( |

My free trial expires at the end of March and I would like to know if I order any April releases before then if I will still receive free two day shipping. |
The single disc is enough for most consumers. That's all they need for their loss leaders. There's really no need for them to discount the deluxe 2 disc cause collectors will buy it anyways.
|
If the extras on the second disc mirror the extras on the other second discs ... totally not worth more money for me.

$15.99 AR (22.99 BR) at fye.com (no upc needed) - http://shop.fye.com/product.aspx?sku...2633&loc=50244
Free shipping over $25. PS! Think Narnia CE (or was it SE?) 2 disc is $20.99 AR IIRC |

Is it true that "..Goblet.." will also be released on high-def DVD? I heard a rumor that this would be among the first HD titles released.
|
n/m, google is my friend:
Quotage: Variety is reporting (http://www.variety.com/index.asp?lay...238&cs=1)today that many of the big studios will be releasing films on DVD in on "a high- definition digital disc" later this year. Among those films listed is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Quotage: "The "Mission: Impossible" and "Lord of the Rings" trilogies, as well as Peter Jackson's "King Kong" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," will all be released on high-definition digital discs this year. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, nearly every studio is expected to announce their first slate of high-def digital disc titles coming to market in 2006. More than 75 titles (new and old movies plus TV shows) are expected with the introduction of the first DVD player, with dozens and maybe hundreds more by the end of the year." |

Update: Amazon has lowered the price to $20.06 (odd price, lol).
|
Are they FYE rebates online only?
|
Looks like BestBuy.com is 20.99. Online sales tend to reflect what the first week price is there.
