Surprised to not see them up yet. Anyone have them?

dvdphilic 02-03-06 03:58 AM

I guess our beloved Speedy1961 didn't get next week's flyer early.

GACK!!!

Thanks for the prices. :)

nemein 02-03-06 08:56 AM

Isn't that the TV show? Would they have been in widescreen?

Mr. Cinema 02-03-06 09:01 AM

I think even the movie version is fullscreen in this set. Amazon shows 1 list and it says fullscreen for each disc. blah

Can you remove the ? in the title

What TV show?

I believe it's this set: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...v=glance&n=130

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I don't have the newest release of the original shorts and would've gotten this set if not for the full-screen crap on the movie.

bookcase3 02-03-06 10:08 AM

According to DVDempire.com, which has the front and back cover art for the W&G two-disc set, the video is:

Widescreen 1.85:1 Color (Anamorphic)
Standard 1.33:1 Color

Easy 02-03-06 11:01 AM

Is that the 3 disc Titanic? I think only the three disc was called "collectors edition". Great deal for $10... if there is one other you want.

Mr. Cinema 02-03-06 11:06 AM

They're $15 each, then you get a $10 gift card.

I'd rather it be 2/20 instead of having to pay $30 to get $10 back.

They were theatrical shorts.

Nice combo deal with Titanic and other titles.

I bet they are recycling all those Elizabethtown "bonus discs" that they had laying around earlier in the year.

<i>$6.99

Damn, for the price of a matinee ticket I get two free DVDs. Nice!

QuikSilver 02-03-06 08:18 PM

Wow great price for Titanic and those other combo deals. I should stop buying dvd on release day causing they are becoming so cheap after a few months.

I picked up one of those discs a while back and am curious if these are different.

I believe the Cracking Contraptions shorts are Widescreen (at least they were on the UK release). So it doesn't make any sense why they would package the FF movie with the WS shorts!

Unless these are re-releases, as I recall Frantic is Pan & Scan and Presumed Innocent is a rather poor non-anamorphic widescreen release. The movies are OK, but the transfers are so weak it rubs me wrong to pay for such cruddy DVDs. I'll pass on this bundle, but I agree that since it's close to the price of a movie ticket (matinees are between $4.50 and $6.50 where I live) some people might find it worthwhile.

zekeburger1979 02-04-06 12:08 PM

I wonder if the 2-pack is the release with both movie on the same DVD?

Presumed Innocent/Frantic

The price would indicate so. The listing says Frantic is fullscreen only, while Presumed Innocent has both.

dvdphilic 02-05-06 01:24 AM

For those who don't want to pay $30 for 2 $14.99 DVDs and get $10 GC back, you can order the titles you want online and choose in-store pickup. You will get $20 directly without the GC hassle. The only drawback I found is that you can only buy a couple in each order 'cause no discount will apply for the 3rd and 4th ones and so on.

Tarantino 02-05-06 02:47 AM

And remember, if you're looking to get Crash in that deal, there's a directors cut on the way. Just a heads up.

The Best Buy I went to, said they had never heard of this free movie ticket even after I showed them the ad. The sales staff in the dvd dept. told me I was S.O.L. so I went to customer service and had them open it and of course no movie ticket, then they told me to piss off, so I left. I would be curious to see if anybody gets a ticket?

TheMovieman 02-05-06 02:11 PM

I wonder if the DVDs with the ticket won't be out until Tuesday as in the ad it was on the New Releases page I think... Could be wrong though.

Sewso 02-05-06 02:23 PM

Glad I waited to get office space and crash.
