In addition to the price increases mentioned above, I noticed that, when I put a large DVD shelving unit in my cart it says that the item is temporarily out of stock, which I assume means it's not eligible for the discount.

During the summer sale DDD actually encouraged you to buy shelving and accessories with the discount, but I guess they're not this time around. Bummer.

You should still be able to get the discount even if something is out-of-stock or on backorder (if I remember correctly).

My bad, I didn't look closely enough at the picture. I already have all of the individual sets, so I don't have a reason to double-dip on this. I'd still probably go with the individual sets over the new uber-set though, since they would fit on my shelf. I don't have the space or desire to display any of my titles on top of a shelf or anything like that.

Yes you do normally get the discount on OOS items...I usually do multiple orders with one being dvds that I want, that people mention as being OOS in the threads.
It usually takes a few weeks to get the dvd's back in stock, so its a great way of getting discs you want but can't afford right away because of all of your initial purchases, because they won't bill you until its back in stock. Its a nice little trick to prolong the sale.

I can't seem to remember for sure, is it one code per account or one use per code? I'm thinking of placing multiple orders at stages.

I keep a wishlist (like some other people mentioned). Another great thing to do is just wait a couple of days after the sale starts and read what people are ordering. It never fails that I read the posts and find at least a few DVD's that I missed.

DDD 20% Sale - Purchases and Recommendations

During the last sale, I believe there was a seperate thread where people would post their purchases for people to look through and find new things to order.

If I'm mistaken, and that was done in the main sale thread, go ahead and kill this one.

Personally, I'm not going to be ordering much on this sale. I made the mistake of buying too much last time, and am unfortunately, still paying it off, thus nullifying the 20% discount. I'm going to be smarter this time and only buy what I can actually afford. I did, however, forward my wishlist to my parents for Christmas, and will probably get a good portion of titles next month.

At the end of the sale, I will compile the stats like I did with the last sale. It will include things like: Total spent, total titles, average cost per order, average number of titles per order, etc.

If you would like to be included in this data, it would be easiest for me and the program I wrote if you copy the order info from the email confirmation. That way, everyone's post will be in the same format, and will make it a little easier to sort through.

Thanks.

its going to take me forever to rebuild my wishlist. it appears to be gone. before those error messages I tried accessing my wishlist from the link at the top of the page as well as trying to add from my cart and item pages. when I added a single dvd that was all my wishlist included. I had my old saved wishlist from last month on my pc in text form and I actually have over 350 items in it. I didn't think it was that huge of a list.

ERROR MESSAGE:

I unclicked the "remember me" box after I kept getting the log-in message and it allowed me to log in. Hope this helps anyone getting the error message.

lisa and flee, delete your cookies then try again. I remember people (including me) having the same problem during the last sale.

The O.C. Season 1 has been $29.87 for weeks (which I double-checked on Saturday). Today it is suddenly $47.88, which means that it will be $38.30 after the 20% discount.

This means that the SALE price is actually 28% HIGHER than the price this set has been for weeks (even after the 20% discount is applied).

If this trend continues, this may be the first time that a DDD sale isn't worth it. But hopefully, we will not find too many cases like this.

Here's some good news though: The Harold LLoyd box set was $67.46 and is now $63.29 -- with the discount, it will be $50.63. So, maybe the price changes will indeed be hit and miss. I've checked 10 other prices and they are all the same.

I just imported my lastest wishlist into Excel and here are the stats:

Number of DVDs: 1,133
Total price: $17,863.12

Of course I add ANYTHING that interests me in the least to my wishlist (it includes the WB mega-set at $1,400 or so which I have no intention of purchasing) and seldom delete anything unless purchased. Purchases from the last three sales have been between $500-$1000 each.

I keep expecting to get a notice from DDD saying that I have exceeded their storage limit for wishlists but so far nothing.
