I think the complaint was not about the prices in general, but the feeling that DDD would be advertising a "sale" and then raising their prices to offset any actual price savings. With the lowering of some of the raised prices it appears that it may have been an honest mistake, but I don't think you can blame people for being upset at what it originally appeared to be. People weren't complaining over the prices themselves, but rather about the business practices that were implied by the price changes. I'm willing to give DDD the benefit of the doubt following their statements, but I will be waiting a day or two for their prices to settle down before placing my order.

How are they deceiving you? The price is clearly stated, whatever it may be. It's up to you to decide whether it is a good purchase or not.

It would be a different story if the price changed at checkout (ala Columbia House).

I can't believe someone just said about investigating DDDVD and legality..........that boggles my mind. This is a business, one that has been very good to this forum and customers in general, in my experience. We're also talking about dvds people.....
Most of the prices, that I was watching, have been adjusted back. (this was before the sale anyway)
Hopefully all the complaining doesn't result in DDDVD not doing the sale again in the summer.

Yeah, I'd hate to have to read post after post about people looking into lawsuits for DDD not offering the sale.

Wha' happen' to the promotion code field at checkout? I'm not seein' it.

Look into exactly what the issue was in the KB case before you make such claims. I understand that you're angry, but making broad, inaccurate statements is not helping your case.

Here is a screen cap of Firefly that I just took.

I mean think about it... Why wouldn't every reailer say stuff like 75% off iPods, then raise the pride of the item 75% to compensate? (Aside of the negative press, and upset customers) The less savvy customers (who don't know what an iPod should cost) would've been scammed into thinking they got a good deal.

And while you can charge whatever you want for a product or service, it is illegal to deceive through price manipulation (like what DDD is doing).

you've posted several times on this topic, saying pretty much the same thing. we get it. DDD has actually apologized for the price fluctuations and if you don't believe their explanation, that's on you. i actually think it's pretty cool that they even responded considering the volume of business they do in general, try getting responses from Best Buy or Amazon. they pretty much don't give a damn.

also, let's not go overboard, 75% off of an IPOD is far different than 20%, and i've had no problem getting DDD to do a price adjustment in the past when they've committed an error. quit acting like they're out to screw everyone, because i think their past actions show otherwise.

That's a completely different case, though. Kay-Bee would take an item that was $20, then put in on "sale" for $15 saying it was originally $30. They essentially upped the 'base price'. The closest thing DDD has to a base price is the MSRP listings. DDD has, to my knowledge, not altered any of these MSRP listings (the "Why pay $x.xx?" listings). Kay-Bee's problem was they blatantly lied about what the previous price was, whereas DDD simply doesn't say what their previous price was.

And even with all this, the majority of the prices are back to normal.

I'll post on this issue hopefully for the last time. We did have an issue with a pricing file as I stated earlier -- we are correcting the errors. Most of them have been changed and as the cache continues to clear you'll see prices change.

If or when DDD finally get's their pricing file glitch fixed, and the Avengers 'Emma Peel' megaset returns to the $74.xx price it was only a couple of hours ago...please let me know.
