freeze prices during sale

OK, I'm willing to give DDD a chance to fix their "pricing errors". The only thing I'd ask is that they freeze prices during the sale period. Otherwise, one won't know which is the best day to order - or worse - you might get sniped by a correction during the order process itself! I don't think we should have to post complaints about every recent price increase for our wish list items in order to get DDD to revert to the previous prices. Let them fix their prices today so we can decide tomorrow.

I totally agree - although freaking out and name calling like some have resorted to is not called for at all, IMHO. As long as it all gets worked out by the time the sale goes live.

Do you guys think it would be smart to cancel my existing order for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer 7 disc collection (current total with overnight shipping is $142.84) and reorder it on Tuesday? My main priority is getting it quickly, and I'm holding out hope that I'll get it early with my current order. I'm afraid that if I cancel my current order, they might increase the price of the set before Tuesday...what do you all think? This is only my second DDD sale (didn't participate in June's) so I could use some advice.

DVDTalkers,

Well this was supposed to be fun launch -- the sale hasn't even started yet and we have our first issue. This is a first.

I'll post on this issue hopefully for the last time. We did have an issue with a pricing file as I stated earlier -- we are correcting the errors. Most of them have been changed and as the cache continues to clear you'll see prices change. Will you see some prices that changed? Yes. Were these changes made specifically in anticipation for the sale? No. They are made as normal course of business, often times in response to our competition. As frequent shoppers know you will continue to see price changes every day in reaction to our competition.

Changes happen every day, some happen right before a sale and are simply coincidence.

I understand that many of you are upset and obviously some of you take issue with my previous post. I can only say that I have been posting as a member of this community for some time now and have always done my best to communicate with you openly and honestly. We did make a mistake but we are correcting it.

As for the wishlists. All of your wishlists should now be restored.

Again, thank you for your business and happy shopping!

Sincerely,

David Barker

P.S.

The codes are now active.

If you reorder it on Tuesday, it could very likely get stuck behind a backlog of orders during the sale.

Could somebody please tell me whether either of the Hitchcock boxsets went up? Both are in my wishlist, and it seems that they are different, but I don't know for sure. Thanks!

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT-2ND SEASON $ 23.08 1 $ 23.08
TITANIC (SPECIAL EDITION) $ 17.23 1 $ 17.23

I definitely wanted to get that Bewitched order in. Last time I ordered it mid-way through the sale and they ended up sending me the COLORIZED one... I guess their warehouse was just going so nutso, who can blame them? They sorted it out quickly and efficiently though.

Thanks DDD, we all look forward to this sale, thanks for listening to the complaints. The insults are not justified. DDD all in all continues to be my #1 website to purchase dvd's not my sole site but you do get most of my dollars. Also the website getting hammered during the sale is a thing of the past, the past few sales the website has run smoothly on top of the low prices. The only thing left to complain about is the shipping speed, which has never been that slow in my experience. I dream of a 21% discount for your largest customer base here at dvdtalk one of these years, maybe out of appreciation/recognition/gratitude. I would never have heard of DDD if not for this site

All my wishlist stuff did NOT go up..well if you count Titanic which was $18.xx last week and turned $21.54 I think last friday..(I think that was them just being competitive for the first week of sale)...Sorry for all who will be losing a true 20%.

David Barker,

Thank you for the updates on the pricing topic. My shelves are full of bargain priced DVDs from Deep Discount DVD so I'm willing to cut you guys some slack.
