Short answer: yes.

It did take time and effort, though:

Step 1: I ask to price match (Seasons 1&2 of West Wing--which weren't in the ad)
Step 2: They call Target and get the $18.88 price verified.
Step 3: They match Target, i.e. give me $18.88 each.
Step 4: I ask about the 10 per cent difference
Step 5: They explain that this is only valid when I had previously bought them.
Step 6: I buy them at full price.
Step 7: I return them and get 110 per cent of the difference, saving about $6-7 off what I would have paid less than five minutes before.

Lot of stuff to go through (much more than the last time, as I recall), but it was worth it to get both of the these for about $34.

I was also glad to be able to give Best Buy some of my money, considering I hadn't really spent anything there since being declared a devil and not seeing many good deals there.

Nope I have 3 different receipts, typically the rebate company takes the earliest date(farthest one back) and it has to be postmarked within 30 or 45 days of that date depending on the rebate, I havn't opened my smallvilles yet to check the exact rebate info so i dont know, but you can have different receipts and they can also be photocopied.

At the Targets around my area, they stopped issuing rain checks for dvds in general, and are now just speficic to what's out. So instead of getting a raincheck for the price of Smallvile season 2 or anything similiar to that; it's now just only Smallville season 2.

Legolas 10-02-05 04:27 PM

Nip/Tuck, Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill vanished pretty quickly from my Target, but they had everything else. Not sure if I want to get into a habit of buying entire series though -- it gets pretty pricey and a lot of my sets just collect dust.

Eve Brown 10-02-05 04:56 PM

Well my Target (Marburg Ave cincinnati,Oh) was well stocked today when i went in at 5 but I didn't see Dallas 1/2 which I had wanted. Picked up Niptuck 1 and Without a Trace for my mom

CrashNBurn69 10-02-05 05:00 PM

circuit city sucks ass. i went to them and at 1st they didnt want to price match because of such a huge difference. the guy was like "this is more than 1/2 off". then he called his manager and they agred to do it but they didnt want to give me the extra 10% of the difference so i went to another cc. this chick spent like 10 minutes calling to see if targets had it in stock and when she found one that did she wouldnt let me pm because of the xx.88. they said that when a price is xx.88 its on clearance and they dont pm clearance items. so i just went to best buy and got some RZ pts.

DJariya 10-02-05 05:34 PM

I went to Target this afternoon and picked up West Wing Season 2, Gilmore Girls season 1 and 2, Without a Trace, 2 copies of Nip/Tuck, Smallville season 1.

A few of them I'm going to keep, but these will be great holiday gifts. Probably the best bargain of the year.

garmonbozia 10-02-05 06:49 PM

:( my Target didn't have any Smallvilles left :(

Thanks for the tip! I had a return I had to make there anyway, so I bought "Lois And Clark" and "Smallville" first and just had their price adjusted when I made the return. I was planning on doing a straight price-match (to save the trip to Target), but saving a few bucks more didn't hurt!

got up early to head for Target in Colma. I got there and the only ones on the shelves were Friends S1 and S2, One Tree Hill S1, and Gilmore Girls S2.

I talked to the clerk and he had someone check out back. Finally, an hour later, they stocked the shelves with Lois and Clark, Smallville S1 only, Gilmore Girls S1 and S2, and a lot more One Tree Hills. Was disappointed there was no Dallas and Smallville S2. They did issue me rain checks while I was waiting around to see if they were going to replenish the shelves. How do target rain checks work?

gryffinmaster 10-03-05 01:17 AM

Smallville S1 and S2, Friends S1, Gilmore Girls S1 and S2.

Total purchase price: $93.XX (with price matchings).

Holy crap.

DJ_Longfellow 10-03-05 10:37 AM

I picked up Gilmore Girls S1/2 at Target. Didn't feel like PM since I was in a hurry, had tiling to do this weekend....Target was by Lowes. Hopefully the other seasons will eventually drop/go on sale.

Miamisburg (near the Dayton Mall) is sold of a lot of titles as of Monday morning.

Middletown is well-stocked but a few titles are sold out (Raymond s1, smallville s2... didn't see Dallas at all. They had some over in their normal section, then some more hiding behind an "island" an aisle over... all clearly marked for 18.88.

Somewhere someone said that Friends Season 3 was ringing up for 18.88 at some stores. Not at either of mine... but if anyone finds it for that, I'll paypalyou 18.88 for it and you can keep the receipt/tab for the rebate and ship via media mail. :) shoot me an email at [email protected]

CaptStormy 10-03-05 01:04 PM

I just got back from Target in Coral Springs, FL (Turtle Run) And they have plenty of Inventory. Pretty much everything. I only needed Smallville Season 2 which I am now the proud owner of.

asianxcore 10-03-05 01:17 PM

great price on all the WB sets. I want to get Gilmore Girls 1/2 this week, but I fear having to pay full price for 3/4, to catch up :) maaaaybe.

Mexican Menace 10-03-05 01:49 PM

Smallville S1 & S2 and Nip/Tuck S1 at the Target @ 183 & Beltline. (about 5 titles)
Dukes of Hazzard S1 & S2 at the Target @ 635 & MacArthur (about 5 titles)
WW S1 & S2 and Gilligan's Island S1 & S2 at the Target @ the Richardson Square Mall - piles and piles of all titles (even The Waltons?) Also had all three seasons of 24 marked down $5 or $10.

GCS 10-03-05 01:58 PM

Did well here.

Got up and was at CC at the opening (11am) and got the following

Gilmore Girls S1 -- $15.77
Gilmore Girls S2 -- $15.77
Lois & Clark S1 -- $15.77
West Wing S1 -- $15.77
West Wing S2 -- $15.77
Smallville S1 -- $15.77
Smallville S2 -- $15.77
Everbody Loves Raymond S1 - $17.27
Everbody Loves Raymond S2 - $17.27

Total $152.17 + I got a gift for 15% of the total since I had a coupon from CC which will help cover some of this weeks DVD purchases!

Not too bad for 9 box sets if you ask me. Took some waiting but no real work for me (they had some trouble with their system and the Gift Card coupon).

I was there yesterday (Sunday), and they had a few of the season 1's. No season 2 stuff that I was looking for. That store hardly ever has anything even when there is not a sale.

LB...

Confirmed, picked it up today. It is the Tomb Raider Collection. It is also tagged on the shelf. Good deal if you don't have these already, and you enjoy looking at Angelina's Jolies.

Was only able to find Smallville S1 at my Target.

Also, swung into Kmart today and they had Meet the Fockers for $10. Got that and Shark Tale.

Legolas 10-03-05 05:02 PM

^ At my Best Buy, all their 2 for $20 dvds had a price sign that said $9.99 on the shelf, so I didn't have to buy two.

packaok 10-03-05 05:51 PM

Does anyone think that Best Buy is going to try to pull a fast one with their Amityville 2/$20 deal and combine it with the older, non anamorphic, non-SE release of Amityville? I hope I'm wrong, but I would not be surprised...

no, because I believe that the Old one is OOP. Just check bestbuy.com if you want to double-check.

Cameron 10-04-05 12:10 AM

scott shelton 10-04-05 10:58 AM
